5 substitutions allowed next season... agree or not? 18:37 - Jul 15 with 2523 viewsTheTrueBlue1878

Premier League and EFL not confirmed whether they will allow in this country yet though.

Think it is for the best.

Terrible idea. I'd revert to 3 players on the bench, all of whom may be used. Discourage the bloated squads which FL clubs can't afford. 10 substitutions in a match will often ruin the 2nd half of games.

Awful awful idea. We have to stop letting the powers that be increasing the gap and the advantage of the big clubs- which is precisely what this does.

And that is before the issue fo the integrity of the game more generally in terms, of it being 11 men, fatigue playing a part, figuring it out together as a team, keeping the game flowing etc etc.

It will never go to 3 substitutes only.

Also the current 5 substitute rule is only allowed in 3 separate breaks, so there would be no difference in that regard?

No thanks. No justification for it.

It's not great in friendlies.

It’s long been known as the beautiful game; no idea why there needs to be a new rule every, single year. Leave the game alone.

Will only be for a year. But when a club like Wolves started their season back in July 2019, and with Europa League could play through August and straight into next season as well as in the Europa League again, they could be playing through to May 2021.

I know they had a break during Covid, but it’s not the same as getting away with your family on holidays for 3/4 weeks.

Monitored strictly and intense programmes throughout lockdown to keep them match ready.

And obviously if you do it for one team you have to offer all.

Probably the safest option.

NO NO NO. It simply favours the clubs with more resources and spoils the game.

If a player is tired, the sports science will say so and they can bloody well pick someone else for the game.

It won't affect us much, Lambert will still only bring them on in the 85th minute anyway.

Should be 3 subs, along with enforced 22 man squads with Reserves (U23's in today's language) only being allowed to be called up the the 22 when a gap appears through a sale or a player demotion. U23's and other youth levels shouldn't be allowed to go out on loan while at the club but can be called up to the first team squad if one of those 22 go out on loan.

Would stop the top clubs holding onto 50 or so players and loaning them out or benching them without playing them, freeing them up to play for other clubs. It won't happen because the FA protects the bigger clubs and is only really interested in the wellbeing of the 5 biggest clubs in the country.

The B teams should also be kicked out of the EFL Trophy. We'd still get knocked out by Exeter City but thats not the point, it's not a reserve competition, it's a competition to enable the smaller clubs (much like the Playoffs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tiers) an opportunity to play at Wembley and earn some additional revenue.

In short, F the FA.

It’s absurd to add allow a manager change half his team during the game, especially as most of those will be in the second half.

Hope we go back to three. Oh and scrap drinks breaks unless it's above a certain temperature at kick off. We don't them, especially with the long VAR breaks in play. They are awful for the viewer. I suspect Sky and BT are eyeing up another potential revenue stream by inserting an ad in that place so they are probably here to stay as well.

Truly impaired.
