Garbutt 18:27 - Aug 10 with 2291 views | abracaDOBRA_ | Whats everyones opinions on the Garbutt saga then? With Ward training, could that mean its dead? Or could Ward be a back up in case it doesn't happen? Or do you think Lambert could actually see Garbutt as a winger and sign both?
Garbutt on 18:32 - Aug 10 with 2258 views | TIB | I’d be open to Ward at LB and Garbutt further up though it sounds like Garbutt is heading to the north east.

It seems to have gone a bit quiet now. Sunderland offered that deal last week and we still haven't heard anything concrete on it. Maybe our last ditch offer put a spanner in the works? (wishful thinking)

Yes, Ward at left back with Garbutt at left midfield would be my preferred option. I wonder if we might be looking to play with wing backs, having KVY on the right? Garbutt could fulfil that role as could Nydam, possibly. Not so sure about Kenlock and can’t see Ward having the legs.

Garbutt on 20:17 - Aug 10 with 1944 views | trueblue1970 | I hope we do sign Garbutt but I’ve a horrible feeling he will sign for Sunderland or a Championship club, would like to see him left sided midfield

Garbutt on 20:23 - Aug 10 with 1918 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I would like to see us sign Garbutt but also wonder if he might not be as effective next season as he was last anyway. How many players have impressed on loan and then not done it when they signed a deal? I wouldn't want us to put everything on signing him. We need some quality width but I think we should have enough already in the squad. Getting Sears fit and playing Edwards as a winger would both help solve the problem. El Mizouni, Dobra and possibly Lankester too play wide don't they? The biggest issue is making the best use if the players we have.

Garbutt on 20:30 - Aug 10 with 1893 views | DinnernotTea | Luke Garbutt is only useful left mid. Paul Lambert isn't useful and will play him either LB or LWB. Luke Garbutt cannot defend but is/would be the best left mid in the league. So because Paul Lambert is our manager no I don't want him because he will be misused again.

From what I saw of Garbutt, he is much better at LM than at LB. I liked him, good attitude but clearly midfield suited his way of playing a lot better. I hope he does join permanently but I'm not overly confident at this point. [Post edited 10 Aug 2020 20:51]

Garbutt on 21:32 - Aug 10 with 1763 views | itfcjoe | I think Garbutt may try and hold out for a bit of Championship interest, post salary cap news. Wouldn't surprise me to see him sign somewhere late as if he commits early to L1 its going to be on something like £3k a week which is chicken feed in the Championship, and compared to what he is used to. Wait and see if a Champ opportunity presents himself
