I'm still not sure whether this approach can survive the likely economic impact of Brexit, or whether it's a house of cards ready to topple down.

Look at it this way. If you were making shirts for a football club and one club had 1000 fans and the other had 10000 fans where would you prioritise your time and efforts?
Furthermore would you give the same deal to the smaller club as you did the larger club knowing that in the end the sales to the larger club are far more important and that's the business you really want.
Once you've reached your conclusions you should be able to work the rest out for yourself.
