Wonderful news.
If only Richie was still with us to present - nostalgia right there! "Good morning everyone".
Ahh that would be class.
It's especially nice at the moment, with people couped up in their homes and so many who don't have SKY. Especially a lot of the oldies, I'm sure they'll appreciate the coverage.

Yes really when you think of it the sporting authorities should have done more to repeat this for other sports.
As you say with people stuck at home it will raise the spirits a little and they are bound to get great viewing figures!

Interesting that this was only agreed so late. Apparently Channel 4 feared a late counterbid from Sky. I guess a Test series with the games starting at 4am UK time won't have commanded a huge price. Will be interested in the quality of the C4 coverage, although the pictures will come from the host broadcaster. At least a reason to bet up early.
Not so fast. It was put out via a false twitter account apparently. Has yet to be confirmed who will show it.
Exclusive!
"Channel 4 wins rights for England's Test cricket tour of India"
Then at the bottom of the article.....
"Channel 4 are yet to officially confirm the arrangement with the contract still to be signed but have spent the past week sounding out pundits for studio work."
Some very loose journalism!

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
Excellent, Looking forward to Day 4 where I can go straight from the end of the Super Bowl over to the cricket. Does mean I'll have to go without any sleep that night though.
I survived Ipswich 0-0 Burton

Was the last game on 4 V the Aussies, 05' series?
First test series yes - and actually the first time ever that away tests have been shown on terrestrial tv. What a series to end on, that 2005 ashes was though.

first time live, the beeb did use to do highlights occasionally, but do let that point sink in because the rights have been available on every series, Sky only have exclusive rights to home series, they have to negotiate every time with the hosting cricket board, thats how BT Sport ended up with Australian cricket, inc the Ashes.
and Sky have never had a smooth relationship with BCCI, as the BCCI tend to overstate how much the games are worth, which Sky often refuse to pay, there was a thing one time where they had to commentate sitting at home (so not much different to now) because they refused to pay BCCI some crazy amount to have on site commentators reporting the game.
3rd test is day/nighter so its 9am start I think

I seem to remember Mark Nichols being a bit emotional at the end!
