Lambert and Evans Discussions 16:00 - Feb 12 with 1062 views | chrismakin | Just reading through Lamberts recent comments you can almost imagine the phone calls between the two of them. Lambert pretty much using the line of Injured players all season. Lots to play for. Etc we re in the playoff picture trust me. Etc etc. Evans is being taken for a right mug imo. The fact we are hanging on to 6th place as our new target is disgraceful for the squad we have. This isnt a club struggling with finances. Injuries have played a part but weve still had players available who other league 1 sides would love to have. I think it's also disgraceful how Lambert has publically shamed Chambers. I know there is a split opinion on chambers but end of the day hes been a worthy captain and does so much for the club off the pitch as well has putting as much as he can on it. Theres no need for Lambert to publically embarrass Chambers like that The continued pot shots at the media pretty much also show Lambert manages to get Evans to see what lambert wants him to see... remember Evan's description of fans not seeing everything on I follow pretty much the same sht that comes out of Lamberts mouth. Pretty much we are fked. Lambert has Evan's on strings like a puppet. " publically support me" " ok will do" Lamberts in charge. Not ME. Not O'Neill but Lambert and that in itself is a scary thought.

He was asked if he can play centrally and instead of replying he said it is a big shame that he isn't getting younger and said he will soon have to think about giving up. Very odd answer

Defo taken for a mug. Theres is no evidence based on results which show town anywhere near capable of going on a run long enough to finish in the top 6. I'd hold my hands up if there were and say fair enough I'll sit back and wait to see. But I cant see any reason why all of a sudden we will go on this imaginary run

It's just the way he did it for me wasnt right I know it could be me reading to much into it. But I think it could have been done a very different way without making it sound like chambers needs to be put down.

Me neither, but equally I don't think he is being taken for a mug, he's just being stubborn in not wanting to payout Lambert and also not seen to be bowing to the fans who have been calling for this for a long time now. His comment about careful what you wish for was a dig at us. A man who has made a colossal fortune as he has is no mug, and especially wouldn't be made one by a thick ex footballer.

The old Father Time comments are totally unnecessary imo. Chambers will know his career in coming to an end but until the last few games, he has been as consistent as anyone. I feel his comments are factual but totally unnecessary and imagine Chambers will feel that way too. If he were played centrally, then he would be fine. The McG loan signing was baffling tbh.

He isn't getting any younger but he wants him to be marauding full back at 35... It's not rocket science though.

Like almost all of Lambert's statements these days, it's just weird more than anything. Here's this player you've been picking as a full back in an ostensibly attacking formation all season and an interviewer asks if you're considering moving him to centre half and your reply is: “Luke’s just unfortunate, nobody can beat time, it catches you. I had it myself, I know what it’s like. You’ve just got to look at it and face that it’s coming. That’s what happens in football, you can’t go on for ever and ever. It’s a really hard thing for you to accept at times, or you can accept it and move on. It’s hard for a footballer, it’s a tough job they’ve got.” What the hell is he trying to say even?

Evans is hoping we scrape the Playoffs and that he can use that to bring back ST holders with the promise of more, playing the youth, no wage cap and so on next season. As proven with Mick, Evans isn't overly worried about winning promotion or competing in cups so long as the losses at the end of the season are manageable to him. He can't afford to fund a Championship side anymore anyway lets be honest, he has a manager running the team, what more does he need? Remember he's not a fan like us.

I agree on the 'old father time' comments being unnecessary. No need. I disagree on you saying Chambers has been consistent up until the last few games. He's been pretty pants for 2 years. Unless you mean consistently poor?

He can choose to "not fund" the side in either division, if that's what he wants.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the worst thing MM did here was to get us into the playoffs! It seems that made Evans think he could keep us running with the bare minimum of investment and hopefully fluke another go at them at some time in the future. Completely deluded and the inevitable result is what we see before us today.
