Doesn’t say anything about banning beers at the side of a kids football pitch...

Lots of people sharing time and having a drink at the beach when I went for a stroll this afternoon. Can’t say I bemoaned any of them. So lovely to feel the sun on the face today, a bit of company and a glass of wine can only have enhanced that.

Also, I usually end up running the line, so beers not conducive.

Indeed. Shame... The *only* criticism appears to be all kids back at once. That will need the testing regime, allegedly to be done at home, to be spot on. Putting families and education first is very un-Tory | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don’t know. I’ve assumed most of our match officials are drunk this last few seasons

The signposting has been that way for some time. I am diametrically opposed to the characters in the CRG. However, I believe they raise questions worthy of consideration with regard of the return to some level of normality. Whereas the leader of the opposition is a complete waste of space.

Looks like it won’t be until March 29th I’m gutted as both my boys play, and are desperately missing it. Not just games, but training and actually getting out.

All school kids back at once is madness... I'd have preferred a staggered return starting with primaries and y11/Y13 groups to get testing up and running before readmitting other years. I'd also consider reducing the school Easter break, although as husband to a teacher I'm fully aware of how hard most have been working and will need some short break to mentally recharge by early April.
Easing Lockdown - the 4 tests on 08:01 - Feb 22 with 1396 views | Herbivore | Think the aim should have been all year groups back after Easter holidays using the 4 weeks between the 8th of March and the Easter holidays to start getting priority year groups back in. If you don't have kids there's not much to look forward to imminently. We're still a way off actually being able to do much with our leisure time. That said I'd rather wait longer now and not have to endure another lockdown, so I'm pleased there's more caution being exercised here than when the previous lockdowns were eased. Next few months will still be a bit of a slog though.

Easing Lockdown - the 4 tests on 08:17 - Feb 22 with 1352 views | TractorWood | Not sure I see the point in ramming all kids back into schools for a few days before they break up for Easter and allow it to spread even quicker with rule of 6 back as their parents head to parks to meet their pals. They have to go back at some point though. Pub gardens aren't open but surely parks will be mobbed with people getting smashed, if the rule of 6 is back. Better weather will inevitably help with covid.

Very little indeed to look forward to. Less a roadmap announcement, more the reveal of another two months of pretty much complete lockdown. All quite depressing. Not seen the gym mentioned anywhere but assume that’s in April and phase 3.

No mention at all of seeing friends and family indoors, which is quite important to those of us who live several hundred miles away from friends and family. I do see the need to be cautious and some groups are always going to be prioritised over others, but it's going to be a fair old while until we get back to where we were last summer even. Still, some people got to have a proper Christmas and that's the main thing.

No that’s not anywhere is it. We were tier 4 for Christmas so no other households involved. Essentially been on full lockdown since start Nov so this is going to take it through to over 6 months.

Seeing people indoors was always unlikely to happen this quickly, it's just too risky as any prolonged time will mean people are infected, probably even when wearing masks. I am quite surprised, I expected the CRG to have gotten a lot more of they demands into the timetable. As you say though, it's difficult for anyone who has to travel to see their friends and families given no overnight stays or even shelter from the rain indoors if it's a bad day. Going to be another 2 months of hard slog for most. Anecdotally the meeting of 2 households (and more) seemed to start around here as soon as the temperature hit 15C last week. It shouldn't be that dangerous to meet outdoors in a sensible way though so am surprised that is another 6 weeks off. SB

I imagine the thinking is that once people can officially meet in groups outdoors that will inevitably spill over into some of those people thinking it's okay to meet indoors. I think that'll especially be the case if gardens are included in outdoor socialising (which looks to be the case) as people will just go indoors if it gets cold or the weather turns, or if they just need a piss.

The other 'rumour' doing the rounds in the virtual corridors of the Civil Service is Sunak will announce an extension of Furlough until at least 30th June this week. Johnson will hint at it tonight, but Sunak will deliver the statement. A reflection as you all say that this is another 2 month slog with not very much open. Hairdressers, gyms etc likely to be May. UK tourism/hotels not until June.

Exactly. It's almost implicit in saying you can go in other people's gardens.

From 29th March (or Easter), the local travel restriction will be lifted too. Will allow families to meet in gardens at least who are spread across the country.
