AZ vaccine banned for under 60s again in Germany; Canada cite research.. on 19:56 - Mar 30 with 2379 views | StokieBlue | Well originally it was banned for the over 65's and now it's the under 65's so they must have loads of spare vaccines for the 60 to 65 year old cohort. It was 31 cases in 2.7m doses in Germany. In the UK it was 11 cases in something like 5 times as many doses. Many of those doses in the UK have been in the under 65's. Now there might be a risk, it's certainly possible, however the risk is still far less than C19. In the end they are only hurting themselves with these actions but it is of course up to them to assess the level of risk they are comfortable with. It's too late for the EU to use AZ now. It's been totally undermined so they are going to have to hope they can source enough of the other vaccines to make up the difference and that none of them have any tiny correlated issues. I do wonder if there might be an issue with the process at the EU factory which needs to be looked at - something which isn't present at the UK factory?

I'd like to think that would be the case, but unfortunately the cynic in me thinks it's more to do with trashing AZ and using it as an excuse for their failed rollouts.

I don't know but you'd hope that if the EU don't end up using them then they would donate them to the Covax scheme. Some more information around this, it looks like the same condition is seen with the other vaccines as well although nobody has cited a correlation for those ones...... "The British vaccine regulator, the MHRA, has reported only four cases of cerebral venous sinuous thrombosis cases in people who have received an Oxford/AstraZeneca shot between the start of the year and 14 March, compared with two cases among those who have had the Pfizer/BioNTech jab. In a statement on 25 March, the MHRA said a rigorous scientific review did not suggest that blood clots in veins were caused by the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, and that there had been less than one in a million cases of the disorder in the UK. There have also been reports in the US of immune thrombocytopenia in people who have received the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna shot, though the data does not show whether the problems were directly linked to the vaccine." And also, in Germany, all 30 cases found were in young females. Surely there's no good reason for the AZ stocks that they already have in their fridges not to be used on their male population?

In which case a category of people most likely to be using birth control. Not that it would be wise to leap to conclusions there either I realise.

...not at all...but the use of words is interesting don't you think? It does not say scientists have confirmed there is no link between the vaccine and clotting and yet you use it to imply as much. Disingenuous. Edit ...oh and guess what, instinctively it always seemed to me that the whole infected surfaces/getting infected outdoors thing was essentially nonsense...yet you and most others were screaming..."but the science....." Somewhat missing the point. The point I was trying to, perhaps too melodramatically, make was that there are a range of side effects linked to the use of any drug and no drug is 100% risk free for the entire world population. So for those administering drug use all drug use is risk assessment is it not? As for your question, I suppose it depends on how bad the hangover was (and before you say what a stupid answer I'd just like to point out that you started it). [Post edited 31 Mar 2021 9:44]
