Well originally it was banned for the over 65's and now it's the under 65's so they must have loads of spare vaccines for the 60 to 65 year old cohort.
It was 31 cases in 2.7m doses in Germany. In the UK it was 11 cases in something like 5 times as many doses. Many of those doses in the UK have been in the under 65's. Now there might be a risk, it's certainly possible, however the risk is still far less than C19.
In the end they are only hurting themselves with these actions but it is of course up to them to assess the level of risk they are comfortable with.
It's too late for the EU to use AZ now. It's been totally undermined so they are going to have to hope they can source enough of the other vaccines to make up the difference and that none of them have any tiny correlated issues.

Some more information around this, it looks like the same condition is seen with the other vaccines as well although nobody has cited a correlation for those ones......
"The British vaccine regulator, the MHRA, has reported only four cases of cerebral venous sinuous thrombosis cases in people who have received an Oxford/AstraZeneca shot between the start of the year and 14 March, compared with two cases among those who have had the Pfizer/BioNTech jab.
In a statement on 25 March, the MHRA said a rigorous scientific review did not suggest that blood clots in veins were caused by the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, and that there had been less than one in a million cases of the disorder in the UK.
There have also been reports in the US of immune thrombocytopenia in people who have received the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna shot, though the data does not show whether the problems were directly linked to the vaccine."

Somewhat missing the point.
The point I was trying to, perhaps too melodramatically, make was that there are a range of side effects linked to the use of any drug and no drug is 100% risk free for the entire world population.
So for those administering drug use all drug use is risk assessment is it not?
