Slightly concerned about Kieron's position now 21:46 - May 14 with 3964 viewsStNeotsBlue

It seemed to be expected that Kieron was going to be more involved with the 1st team given his increased role at the back end of last season and Cook's praise of him. But recent appointments don't seem to back that up. Not utilising such an asset would seem an error of judgement. Which to my mind would be a shame and a mistake, the guy is Ipswich through and through and has done the business at the highest level.

If he is out of the first team picture, I'd be surprised if he stuck around.

Although maybe he enjoys the U23 role?

Why is it a misjudgement when we don't know who the assistant manager will be? Equally we don't know how good Kieron would be in the role but we do know he did great in the U23s. Maybe Cook wants him to focus on developing the pipeline into the Senior team and continue his development?

There is so much over analysis happening on here currently, with no real insight or basis. Have we not wanted change and a complete overhaul? Now we are watching it happen people are questioning it.

Think he's still going to be the U23s coach.

It's fair for people to question appointments of first team coaches with no experience.

It's also been suggested today that Dyer won't be involved in the first team.

Cook did say recently that Dyer was an excellent coach and would be involved in the first team, so if that changes it does seem like an about turn.

It's ok to disagree.

Sit tight and pick up the pieces.....! In all seriousness I think not tying himself to closely to Cook at this stage may not be a bad idea

Do you think that's Dyers preference at this stage?

I think he would have liked to have been part of the first-team set-up but enjoys the U23s role, and I'm sure more so under PC than PL.

Wasn't your guess that he was going to be the assistant manager? If that no longer your view? Apologies if i've got that wrong.

Truly impaired.

Of course it's ok to disagree, as I am with some of the comments going on currently. In fairness I went off topic from the OP.

Just think people are creating so many different narratives when we don't know the details of conversations. Getting back to the Dyer situation, he has been involved in the first team and is on record saying he has learnt more from Cook than he has for years. So again maybe Cook has said I need you mate working with the U23s and developing them towards the 1st team.

The Craney appointment is a bit of an odd one, no one really minded about Roberts but when you appoint a kit man as first team coach when they said recently "I started taking my coaching badges but being a kit man suits me better." , it is a bit of a head scratcher.

He was working in a bakery in 2019. You do wonder if there aren't better coaches out there...

If Dyer wants to be U23 coach then great.

Yes, I was guessing he might be the other day but seems that's not the case. Not even sure there is going to be an assistant manager.

Why’s that?

KD was full of praise for Cook and rather damning of the quality at the club and academy the other. I guess you know more?

Well it’s fairly obvious Cook is taking the nuclear option here, it’s either going to go well or badly, and we’ll know within 6-9 months whixh way that is likely to go.

There isn’t going to be a massive middle ground whixh sees Cook plod along for a couple of years - as a long standing coach here, not saying that is what KD is doing, I thibk not chucking all eggs in Cook basket at this moment may be sensible

He’ll obviously support him, and obviously rates him but may be worth keeping powder dry

Can see a situation where PC puts together a promotion team, doesn’t get the best out of them and KD takes over.

Evan’s last blunder may well end up as him not trusting KD and TB to see last season out.

That’s the definition of worrying.

Fair enough and thanks for clarifying. I fully understand Cook’s ‘get onboard or get out’ strategy btw. He simply needs to be ruthless and upset some people to shake the club out of its malaise. Big managers and huge clubs have had to bomb established influential voices in order to make progress. The club cannot suffer in order to appease the likes of Skuse and Chambers, who if we’re honest are fantastic guys with great longevity but never fabulous footballers.

I think where I am struggling with it is that you can understand being ruthless with the decisions made, but think that they can still be handled better than they have been.

If he doesn’t want them then so be it, but our skipper shouldn’t be treated badly in that process.

The decision is the ruthless thing - not how it is given

The same KD that spoke very highly of PC

The same KD sat with PC and a few other coaches in the pub last Sunday with beaming smiles on their faces with no issue in the world.

Those that have made their minds up about PC already are making situations up to try further ‘prove’ themselves right

It’s weird
