Tesla....a bit sh1t really? 22:17 - May 15 with 1945 views | BanksterDebtSlave | https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/may/15/tesla-fatal-california-crash-aut Tesla, which has disbanded its public relations department, did not respond to an email seeking comment. The company says in owner’s manuals and on its website that both autopilot and full self-driving are not fully autonomous and that drivers must pay attention and be ready to intervene at any time. Autopilot has had trouble dealing with stationary objects and traffic crossing in front of Teslas. In two Florida crashes, in 2016 and 2019, cars with autopilot in use drove beneath crossing tractor-trailers, killing the men driving the Teslas. In a 2018 crash in Mountain View, California, an Apple engineer driving on autopilot was killed when his Tesla struck a highway barrier.

The blame in this situation is with them. As a car though, I do feel there are better electric options out there. The Volvo Polestars look great. SB

The autopilot looks great. The cars are horribly built, they are laughed at in the industry and being returned in the thousands. It is worth noting they are still loss making at selling cars

Agree about the polestar, it’s a great car with excellent features, interior and driver environment beats the utter blandness of the Tesla interior. The big established auto manufacturers are now offering some great EV’s . Times are changing fast.

Musk said he expected Tesla Energy to be as big as the car side one day. Sounds much more exciting.

I think it highly unlikely Tesla will be the leading vehicle manufacturer in the next 10 years, they currently dominate a market that none of the big players have committed fully to, once they do it’s going to be a lot harder for Tesla as the market will be saturated with options. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Indeed not cheap, be interesting to see what the used values are in 3 years? May be more affordable but as with quite a few EV s in this price bracket / spec the performance output is high (400bhp and above) I can see this attracting higher insurance premiums and putting most people off.

I have a Model three and test drove both the Polestar 2 and iPace as well, but the tesla was the better all round package in my opinion. The in car infotainment with the Jag was terrible but it really is a nice drive......stated range is optimistic at best though. The Polestar was interesting....it's obviously a Volvo when you are inside and from a driving perspective is very unwhelming....rear space is poor too so no good if you have kids. In summary I love my Tesla....best car I have ever driven.

I think the build quality issues are overblown, however I don't have any contacts in the industry....just talking from a consumer perspective. I know a good few Model 3 owners and very few have had build/paint issues. I think they have improved since moving production to China.

I bought a couple, one each for me and the mrs. Def info. If I had that sort of money to splash out on an electric car I'd be shopping for a Porsche Taycan Turbo S. Not sure how you have a turbo on an electric motor though.

Tesla....a bit sh1t really? on 09:49 - May 17 with 1005 views | ElephantintheRoom | On the other hand the company produces a car which is unfit for purpose in a large country where the range is so limited, the build quality as with most things american is appalling, they lose money on every shoddy car they build - yet it is the most higly valued car company in the world - and yeythe somewhat eccentric owner is somewhat wealthy as a result of producing such rubbish.. Dont fly to Mars or the moon in an Elon Musk company product would be my advice - and certainly not on autopilot - though you can see why americans in their boring cars on boring roads might be tempted to use it.

What they need to do is only let them be driven by robots!

The “turbo” bit is just a naming convention. As Porsche moves into EV markets it needs to bring its long established branding with it, same of its sister car the Audi electron GT RS , and that’s the thing, the Tesla is a brilliant product let’s make no mistake about that I just feel they don’t quite have the design and aesthetics where they need to be to compete at those price points.

Supercharger network negates any range anxiety according to my US based M3 owners. I mean they are only talking from experience so feel free to ignore them.....
Tesla....a bit sh1t really? on 11:02 - May 17 with 921 views | ghostofescobar | 90% of current vehicle accidents are caused by human error. So even if Tesla (and all the others) automation cause 50% of all future accidents (which they won’t, it will get way down to single figures in time) then the roads will be a lot safer.
