It reportedly has nothing to do with this - "The 37-year-old activist's finances came under scrutiny last month after it was reported she owned four homes."
According to press releases, she owned two of the houses before BLM received any sort of significant financial contributions and the is no organisational money linked to any of the four houses.
I find it interesting that when someone is financially successful and playing the capitalist game well, they are discredited because of it, when the try and make social change.
And on the other side, when you don't have money and you try and make change, you are also targeted for your lack of wealth as a way to discredit you. XR were called "crusties" by the PM BJ for example which characterises the protestors as unwashed and homeless.
So I guess my question is: How much wealth should one have to be able to pursue socio-political justice? Really looking for a bracket here.
This is a classic case of playing the man/women not the ball, if you can't criticise the message attack the messenger. There are so many people uncomfortable with BLM for whatever reason, but cannot be seen to openly speak out against racial equality.

Acceptable to own your own home (we all need somewhere to live) and have savings of no more than five figures. Hard to criticise that I'd say.
If you own a house in inner London, you'll be criticised by the tabloids for living in a "£800,000 home", even if you bought it for a fraction of that when inner London was considered a highly undesirable place to live in.*
* Applies to Labour politicians only

You can't win can you?
If you criticise the society we live in people will attempt the always hilarious gotcha of "but you participate in society, how curious!?".
If you don't, then you fall into the wacko or crusty category.
It's the same with environmental issues. You could design new more efficient technology or work tirelessly to save a type of environment of creature, but the minute you take a flight to go and inspire other people about it you're labelled as a hypocrite.
Edit - after quickly scanning those first couple of links in the OP, it's not clear that there is a basis to any of the accusations. Obviously BLM accounts all need to be above board though and if not people are right to kick up fuss.

I've seen a Twitter post doing the rounds of someone slagging off Greta Thunberg for using a single-use surgical Covid mask.
All I would say, is it sticks in the throat when Diane Abbot or Shami Chakrabarti or any other left wing politician send their kids to private school.
(or anyone else for that matter who supposedly supports equality of opportunity whilst paying for their kids to go to a school that is part of the structures that reinforces the class system at the expense of ordinary people)
Got no issue with people being successful, got every issue with people using that wealth in an unethical manner as described.

It’s completely bereft of logic. It reminds me of Louise Mensch’s view that “You can’t complain about a capitalist world if you live in it” ... as if there’s a choice. This is also about the only time I can remember someone getting called out for such a stupid view.

Was going to post about that exact exchange. Really was an utterly bizarre argument she made and simply seeks to avoid the hard questions being made by those protesters.
To answer the question specifically I see no problem with pursuing “socio political justice” whether one is a prince or a pauper, Tony Benn is a good example. I do see a problem with being a self described Marxist, fronting a Marxist organisation dedicated in part to toppling our current capitalist system, and owning four homes. It makes one look like a hypocritical grifter.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Agree with the gist of what you're saying, just not sure a a person who calls themself a Marxist should own mpr ethan one home.
Mind you, my family's firm used to rent of office space from a Marxist organisation in London which alwasy seemed a little bit odd.
On the whole though, I hate the term champagne socialist and respect wealthy people who are lefties.
Marxism is fairly misunderstood and often presented as something it’s not by those who are threatened by it.
Most of the time Marxism is a way of understanding the world and its forces, rather than proposing actual Marxist policies as we’ve see them in communist states over the past 100 years. For example, socialism and social democracy are informed by a Marxist perspective.

One can be a Marxist critic of capitalism without endorsing a full blown Marxist state.

Of course. One can say and think whatever one likes. I’m making a specific point about the lady in the OP.

Her housing is an issue in the article for people who are complaining about BLM, not any Marxist belief.
BLM, not a Marxist group in my opinion, but let's assume it is, if that is what you mean by "fronting a Marxist organisation", appeals way beyond the spectrum of Marxism. Eg, multimillionaires, such as Lewis Hamilton, support the idea that BLM.

Funning how she sees herself as making a really astute point, when it is pretty moronic, as it is easily exposed for the nonsense it is.
