You never heard stuff like this under Lambert. Or Hurst for that matter. 13:30 - Jul 30 with 2060 views | The_Flashing_Smile | "Today, Gary’s going through clips with Scott Fraser on positional play, Franny Jeffers is talking with the strikers about movement, Ian Craney’s out with players doing passing. We’ve got to make these players better footballers."

Crucial the current regime keeps up its more open approach.

There certainly wasn't any evidence of the previous managers "making these players better footballers."

How do you do anything much with a squad of 40 plus player? Add in those who are too old, those who were injured or at least not fit for one reason or another and I can’t see how much was done at all. There’s no evidence anything was. Regardless, the games played over two years tell me the players weren’t fit enough. How many young players have improved on reaching the first team squad? I have to go back 20 years to Burley (possibly Royle with Bent) to think of any improvement in players that got to this level. As for the openness of Cook, Ashton, O’Leary, I agree. It’s crucial. That was notable from Cook's televised training sessions. So many players and such a congested training ground.

Quite. Refreshing honestly last night from those in charge. Of course there’s an element of saying the right things, but even little bits like Cook being transparent about priorities & competitions was refreshing. We all know the answer, it’s just nice to hear those in charge cut the BS and stop trying to give politicians answers.
