From the “bomb squad”?

I doubt Jackson will play for us ever again and Kenlock, I would have thought, could go on loan at least to Colchester or another team…

And McGavin.

Jackson somehow has earned a squad number, despite the millions of strikers we own he is clinging on to a small rope. Kenlock has no chance as he is numberless, and says a lot how there hasn't even been a single link with him.

We could probably still get a small fee for Jackson so I reckon he will go before the window closes. Kenlock & McGavin seem surplus to requirements. Kenlock has a contract until the summer, but he might go on a free to a 3rd/4th tier club. McGavin needs experience; don't know if another club would take on his wages even if they got him on a free.

Don't imagine McGavin's wages are a very significant obstacle, presume he's in the Aaron Drinan sort of bracket (ie. £800pw ish)?

I'm surprised no one has taken a cheap punt on mcgavin, thought he looked OK for us last season.

Less surprised by Kenlock who I've always thought I'd a pretty poor footballer. I was pretty astonished when lambert gave him a new long term contract a couple of years ago.

I cannot see any way at all that Jackson is involved under Cook.

I’d put money on it that he’s been given a squad number as part of Ashton’s plans to get a few more quid out of interested parties by suggesting he’s a little more valuable to us than he really is.

Why would you be astonished by an act of gross incompetence by Lambert?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Think it surprised Jackosn. We must have thought bids would come for him ....Accrington on loan feels likely.

Kenlock surely has no way back.

Mcgavin young enough where he could.... he's more u23 anyway and was in the team through necessity as much as anything last year

One of those ITK account reckons it’s a multipack of Ready Salted Walkers and the Fanta is a 1.5l bottle.

Astonishing deal.

In all seriousness, he’s another that needs to move on with our best wishes. I can’t see a Championship side coming in for him. With Downes and Dozzell it seemed inevitable but Jackson is one I could see going on loan to Accrington with a week of the window left.

He strikes me as a player who thrives playing every week but he seems to do absolutely nothing off the bench. Hopefully I jinx that tonight if we need him!

Jackson on the bench tonight.
Not to be used, just so he has to be at the ground I guess! Ruin his Tuesday

I think we'll ditch Jackson the first chance we get - I would imagine he only got a squad number as we hadn't confirmed Aluko and Edwards. I dunno, just can't see him involved but prepared to eat my words when he's named in the squad tonight. I'd like him gone though.

He’s already been named on the bench?

He’ll be on more than that! You earn more than that stacking shelves at Tesco!

That's apparently what Drinan was on. He had one League One appearance to his name when he signed it and no known interest from elsewhere, so it's unlikely to be much more than that.

I’ll be amazed if anyone pays a penny for Jackson. I suspect he will wind up on loan at a League 2 club with us paying two thirds of his wages.

Tesco in Wallingford obviously pay more than other places! £800 a week would be £41k per year.

I wouldn't be. Potential suitors will be looking at the fact that he was our joint top goal scorer in 19/20, joined Ipswich for £1.7 million (must have something about him etc.), is in his prime years (27), has had Championship interest in the past and the fact that strikers are always in demand - especially at the end of the window. My guess is he will be sold to a League 1 side that are struggling for goals and think he's worth a punt for the reasons I've already outlined. He'll probably go for around £400k ish.
