Does anyone remember Eddie Spearritt? Played for us in the late 60s. In particular I’m trying to work if/when he played in goal for us (his usual position was midfielder) - I’m pretty he played a game in goal but not sure who for (he later played for Brighton) or against.

Younger fans may remember Hannah from S Club 7. He’s her uncle.

I remember him mainly as a left winger who spent years in the resrves but eventually proved quite useful when his turn finally arrived. He was from Lowestoft but there's a poster with his username who may well know much more.

And drove up the A12 every day in a Triumph TR4A. Looked cool.

I remember my dad taking me to my first ever match, at Portman Rd. We stood in the Churchmans, & Eddie Spearitt was playing, I'm sure he was wearing No 4. But I just cant remember who it was against & what year.

Eddie Spearritt was our original super-sub, back in the day when subs - just the one - were first allowed.
I always think of him as a mid-fielder but he'd play anywhere pretty effectively - though I don't recall seeing him in goal.

He was in the first Town team I ever saw back in 1966. I seem to remember he was what they called in those days a 'wing-half'. A young 'Mike' Mills was playing one of his first games for us.

I had a program for years v Southampton where our Sub was Mike Mills and Southampton's Sub was Mike Channon ...

I remember Eddie Spearritt running up the left wing towards the North Stand..the first game I ever saw.. opening game at home of the 1967-68 season..against Bristol City. Town won 5-0 and many of our players taking off one boot towards the end of the game, to rub it in.. a bit unsporting I thought.. But a good start for me!

If you have any programmes from the club's first season back in the top division under McGarry you'll see just how small 'squads' were back then. The champions, who Town fans of a certain vintage can name just as eaily as england's World Cup winners were supplements by Ediie Spearrit and fellow midfield wannabe Chris Barnard, spare striker Bobby Hunt,, spare full back Mick Mills and spare goalie Alec Bugg

Apart from his game in goal for Brighton, I think that he may have been the "default" backup for a few teams..

He played for Carlisle for a few seasons, where the keeper was ever reliable Allan Ross - a few years before, Ross was 2nd choice goalie and due to an injury crisis was named as the only Sub. During the game one of the players was able to continue and he played outfield. Ross retired and then before my folks bought their council house, used to come round and collect the rent!!!

Another boy from Eye who remembers Eddie from when I first went to watch the Town. Not exactly strong in the tackle was Eddie.
