Are Ben Tozer's throw-ins legal? From what I could see on iFollow, he normally has at least part of a foot on the field of play when releasing the ball. With his wind-up sprint, it is difficult to see how he could simultaneously have "a part of both feet on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline." However, it would be very difficult for a referee or linesman to make that determination. (This comment is not offered as an excuse for our problems defending against long throw-ins, which we must overcome.) As I recall, Jonas Knudsen was a long throw-in specialist but the deployment of that skill was generally not very effective. Was this because he used a higher arc to gain range, because well-organized Championship level defenders know how to deal with long throws, or both of these factors?

Doesn't excuse our failure to deal with it but at that throw from their left the ball was first handled and carried forward by a different player then thrown back to Tozer who had stolen some yards along by fiddling with the towel. Then he stepped several paces along the line before hurling it in. Genuinely think that if he'd taken that throw fom where it went off the threat wouldn't have reached the six yard box. If it were a corner the chalk would show up an attempt to gain millimetres. Refs need to check out the throwing position when it's such a weapon.

Law 15 of Football - Throw in rules on 18:10 - Aug 18 with 2024 views | Luggworm | After watching the highlights it confirmed what I thought at the time on iFollow, he lifts his trailing foot off the floor and it's a foul throw, (every time). I don't think he would get the distance or trajectory keeping both feet in contact with the floor regardless of the extra few cm's from being over the line.

I was watching out for this very infringement and they looked alright to me.

Seriously, this game called football throwing the ball in from touch like rugby after it's gone out - bring on the further testing of the suggested new kick in.

Absolutely this. I said so to my mate at the time. The whole towel thing was a device both to steal yards, and to steal time once they'd gone ahead. You're spot on. If he hadn't stolen those yards, I very much doubt that the second goal would have come about

Can’t remember us ever scoring from one of his long throws. Can hardly remember him finding a blue head with one.

We looked more likely to concede on the breakaway than ever score from one of Knudsens long throws.

I wonder if there is a way of negating this by the away team asking for the towels to be removed in the same way that teams were able to ask for the multi ball system not to be used?
