It's a big session this morning - need to build on yesterday.

India are going to be coming out all guns blazing....

Spot on Homer. I'm still sitting in the same position I was yesterday, so not to jinx anything - that's what I've told the wife!! I'm doing my bit.

Is it just me, or does Hameed look a class above our recent opening options when he clicks?

First down, Rory Burns.

Effectively 57 ahead with 19 wickets left.

Very good delivery to dismiss Burns.

Yes, good setup with the previous two balls and then the one nipping back.

For me, Shami is their best pace bowler, he offers so much control but he goes under the radar.

He's excellent isn't he? I'm a big fan of Bumrah too, but he's not had much to work with.

Definitely a classier looking player, but has ridden his luck at times.

Did smile when I heard that the last pair to put on 120+ (or similar) for England was about 4 years ago......and was Hameed & Cook.

India are bowling well and these are tough conditions for the batsmen at the minute. I think 350 would be a very good score.

300-3, well over 200 in front, I know this is england but I now feel safe we won't lose this test.

Just carry on batting as long as possible. Exhaust them physically and mentally. 300+ ahead at the end of day 2 will be an incredibly strong position, but I wouldn’t be entertaining any thoughts of declaring. Not that I’m suggesting anyone is thinking that.

Joe Root though. What a run he’s on!

Aim for 500, get them batting tomorrow afternoon. Basically the inverse of some of the crushing defeats we’ve suffered in India.

I’m glad there’s still two Tests to go, the teams remain pretty well matched over here.

I’m with you on this Gogs, I’ve not looked at the forecast for the next few days but I’d bat them right out of the game and grind them into the dirt. We forget we’re coming up to the end of day 2, there’s plenty of time left in the match - weather permitting. If the shoe was on the other foot India would bat, bat and bat some more. Get the lead past 400, that’s a huge mental barrier for the Indians to overcome and then we bowl them out for a convincing innings victory.

Hmmm, can we get a bit past 400 at least. Just letting India off a bit now.

432/8 at stumps, 345 ahead. That’s been a good day despite not quite keeping the pressure on at the end.

Yeah feel like if the whether is good they can make 350 2nd inns and perhaps more... after the collapse in the last test you'd want to see a lead of 400 plus

Just seen that Pant had the fingers on his keeping gloves taped together when he caught Malan.

What will the comebacks be on that? Presumably must be some punishment for breaking the rules.
