This is in line with what we've been experiencing at work. Brexit is going swimmingly.

Think Celina is a Norwegian citizen - he was brought up there - and I think they had some arrangement via the EU/EEA.

See Phil's reply, but also the point is that because of Brexit, the home office is completely gridlocked with applications, and so any visa/work permit applications are taking absolutely forever. So yes you are missing something.

Yep. Big UK Ice Hockey fan and lots of teams apparently needing extra time on Visas and work permits this offseason as the Home Office have significantly more work on ATM. These delays go for the Americans and Canadians who always needed visas, plus the European players who never did before.
