Sounds from Cooks comments that Morsy… 08:23 - Sep 26 with 2236 views | Kieran_Knows | … will walk straight in to the side on Tuesday, which’ll be a bit harsh on El Mizouni as I thought he grew in to the game yesterday. Wonder if Burns will drop out also? I feel there’s a running theme (certainly at home games - cant comment on away as I haven’t been any) that he plays well in the first half but goes quiet in the 2nd? Wonder if Edwards will get 60 minutes like Celina did last weekend? Or if Chaplin will come in for Burns? At a guess; Hladky Donacien Edmundson Burgess Penney Morsy Carroll Chaplin Celina Fraser Bonne

Sounds from Cooks comments that Morsy… on 08:35 - Sep 26 with 2127 views | gordon | Could be right, but I'm struggling a bit to see what Tom Carroll adds to the team - he gets on the ball, waves his arms around a bit and then sends it back to the centre-halves. And he seems a bit powderpuff / positionally weak defensively.

I thought Carroll had a decent game yesterday. He was looking to get the ball forward when he could, certainly more proactive than Evans. As for Morsy, he hasn’t come here to sit on the bench!
Sounds from Cooks comments that Morsy… on 09:42 - Sep 26 with 1898 views | jayessess | Idris was very combative I thought, won the ball back a bunch of times, rarely gave it away, won his 50-50s. Obviously Morsy will come in for him, but he did a really good job. I wonder if Celina might be rotated for Chaplin.

Sounds from Cooks comments that Morsy… on 10:15 - Sep 26 with 1793 views | Basuco | The midfield yesterday looked weak and ineffective, players on the ball had few if any options to pass to, for the first hour and a quarter there was a big empty space in the middle of the pitch that Barry Bannon seemed to stroll around controlling the game. Conner Chaplin filled that gap nicely. I think Sam Morsy will be an important part of midfield when fit for the rest of the season. If not then Paul Cook will have to change formation as so far this season Town have looked like a group of dis-organised strangers, the system is just not working.

For a team to concede a "big empty space in the middle" for 75 minutes to one of the best midfielders in the league, but allow the opposition virtually no chances at all sounds pretty implausible to me.

I agree - centre midfield has been a huge issue for us this season but it was much improved yesterday.

Sounds from Cooks comments that Morsy… on 15:36 - Sep 26 with 1315 views | rgp1 | I'll be amazed if Morsy can run properly on Tuesday after being weighed down by Cooks expectations. The man needs to keep his powder dry and stop sounding like a broken record!

Ah, the new Cole Skuse then? Does an excellent job in he role he performs but as he isn't playing defence-splitting passes and scoring a goal every other game he is no good! How many chances did his weak defensive qualities give the opposition? [Post edited 26 Sep 2021 15:46]

Sounds from Cooks comments that Morsy… on 15:52 - Sep 26 with 1228 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I think, assuming no unavailabilities arise, Hladky KVY Edmundson Burgess (possibly Nsiala) Penney Morsy Carroll Chaplin Celina Fraser Bonne There are arguments that it is harsh on both Donacien and El Mizouni and that we should keep a settled defence. However, Donacien does not offer the forward threat that KVY does and this is a game we should be looking to win. There is no way El Mizouni keeps either Morsy or Carroll out of the side regardless of how well he played. Cook needs to manage him well and make sure he knows that he was pleased with his performance and that his time will come.

Carroll and El Miz were always going to have limited options when Donacien isn't the type of player that would ordinarily play in Cook's preferred formation, but they were far from weak and ineffective. This is no criticism of Donacien, as he does what he does very well, but the system is slightly wrong that side, but KVY was very out of sorts and can't currently justify being in the team.

Not so much that he's not good enough, just not convinced he adds that much as a League One defensive midfielder, suspect a lot of the time we're going to need more combative, physical, defensively minded players. I haven't made any negative comments about Fraser or Celina.

I wonder if I watch the same game sometimes. Carroll and Fraser should be starting every game in their correct positions. A midfield 3 of Morsey, Carroll and Fraser is as good as anything in the league. Edwards and Burns wide with Bonne up top and we should have no excuses.
