From all of our ex-players who would you pick for a manager? 23:05 - Dec 4 with 1439 viewsNthsuffolkblue

Mowbray is the obvious one but I couldn't see is getting him right now.

McGreal? Yallop? Burley? Mills? Butcher? Chambers? Kuqi? Holland? Dyer? Nash? Taricco?

I don't think any of those is ideal. Just wondered if anyone with a historical allegiance to the club stands out as having the potential to be successful. The next Mogga or Burley if you like.

Does the manager have to be an ex player then?

Mowbray?! 4th in the league above…. Are you on meth?

He comes here and gets treated like sht from ‘loyal’ fans that follow on a website

Mowbray is the only one I’d choose. Mind you if he left Blackburn for this club, I’d fire him immediately for lack of judgement.

Shefki might be fun. Especially when this board starts vetting his coaches, all with unpronounceable names. The other reason is that he’d be gone by March and we could go through this again in the Spring. People love a new manager just as much as Jim White got overheated about transfer deadline day.

How about Tarricco and Poyet?

Not if he wins games he wouldn't.

If that's the brief, then this man probably fits the bill better than anyone else:

Mogga's the only manager worth having among them. You could make arguments for others to be involved at various levels, but not at the helm.

Letting Butch go looks like a mistake. I've always been very impressed with Holland, but he's making a decent crack at a career as a pundit. Dyer will get his chance one day.

I know the list is only a fun mish-mash of names, but Williams has a higher pedigree than most people on it.

"Ex-player". Not sure how he fits the brief!

I think the women's team would be pretty annoyed if we appointed him too.

That's a fair summary.

I wonder whether Nash might make a success of it given the chance but I don't think we will (or even should) go with someone with no experience.

Geraint? Johnny? Or have I missed a more obvious one?

Not sure what pedigree they have to be honest.

Geraint Williams took Colchester to tenth in the Championship, - in April they were just a couple of places off the play-offs to the Premiership. He also did well when he arrived at Orient ( though it tailed off) , and was Wales U21 manager for a few years. So some pedigree compared with many names on that list .
