Team v MK Dons 18:43 - Feb 9 with 2583 views | quad | Walton Donacien Wolf Edmundson Burns Aluko Morsy Thompson Celina Chaplin Norwood Not impressed with Bonne, Evans or Bakinson overall against a poor Doncaster side, so I'd go with this. If Mathie thinks Aluko can play in midfield that's good enough for me. Either this or play Evans/Bakinson alongside Morsy and play Celina and Aluko as no.10s behind Chaplin up front. Bonne needs to be dropped, his confidence is shot to bits.

Actually...I think he has all the skills to play there...if he has an enforcer alongside...like Morsi. Could turn out to be a Magilton type player.

I'm assuming the knock Evans took will rule him out with two more winnable home games coming up. A lump like Bakinson might be more beneficial to disrupt MK too. With Morsy raring to go it might complement the gameplan to cut off Twine and Parrott

Not just cos he said it himself but I do think there is something more to come from Bakinson. Love to see a midfielder getting in the box to join the striker.

I really like this team. I might be in the minority but I think maybe I prefer Bakinson to Evans. Million dollar question is could Aluko, Celina and Chaplin be an effective front 3 without an out and out striker? Chaplin's not much of an aerial threat is he?

I liked bakinson alot more 2nd half yesterday and I think with morsy sitting, having the likes of Bakinson being able to rotate with Aluko. Celina etc will really put pressure in mk to not venture forward to much. Biggest thing for me is keeping twine quiet. So we need legs in that midfield area so we aren't losing players. Uptop I was caught. I wouldn't normally leave out a striker. But I'm quite intrigued by the potential false 9 we could play. [Post edited 9 Feb 2022 19:32]

Hey! I went with Chaplin as the false No 9 first. So if K Mac goes with that then I'm claiming the credit.

Strange that, I liked Bakinson a lot more in the first half. Gave possession away sometimes but he was always involved and working hard. Looks strong too. Since McKenna has arrived it seems like Evans has been the one sitting with Morsy being given licence to go on forward runs. Morsy looks a better player playing further forward. Not sure if Bakinson has it in his locker to be the one sitting, hopefully he does. I wouldn't normally leave out a stirker either. But I'm intrigued by the false 9 too. And none of Bonne, Norwood or Pigott are playing well right now. Whereas the other 3 have been on it like a car bonnet.

This is when it's nice not to be the one who makes the decisions lol. I am definitely caught on that midfield 2. And agree with your views on morsy under KM.. I guess I'm just not quite sure which 2 gives the best balance. And Evans concerns me slowly as you're never sure which version you're gonna get. I think I found bakinson abit more organised 2nd half. He didn't appear so rushed in his decision making so his passing came across a bit more thought out and accurate compared to the first. It's funny now tho as really we have Bakinson and Morsy who could both float box to Box but realistically only may start. Who knows. I think it'll be quite hard to get the team prediction right this weekend.

And so you should :) I think I thought more of it after seeing Watsons tweet earlier that our average passing in games is 4th in the efl behind city. Liverpool and Chelsea ( something like that) so was just thinking maybe the false 9 might be something we've yet to see but could be on for a trial at some point.

i like this with one exception - who is gonna take the dead ball kicks? Possibly Celina, but none of those have shown that they can deliver decent corners. So for me Evans has to be in there for Bakinson, even though he isn't great he is the best we have with a dead ball. Have concerns about Bonne as well. His general centre forward play is decent, but he cant hit a barn door atm. I just wonder how Simpson is doing in training.

Bonne is getting in positions to score so alongside his overall work, I think the concern is becoming an echo chamber in some senses. I'd have him on and change it when legs get tired. All the bench options can cause problems with 20-30 mins left. Celina can take free kicks and his corners aren't demonstrably worse given how bad they've been all season. Plus I think we can mix up short corners in this team and still get crosses in.

Personally, I just don't rate Evans. Flatters to deceive imho. He does a job, yes, but there's very few forward thinking passes or creativeness in him whatsoever from what I see. If Morsy plays I don't see the need for another ball winner/slogger in midfield, who's part injured anyway and imho a player who is waiting for a serious mistake to happen. I'd go with:- Walton Janoi Wolf Fridge Burns Morsy Balkinson Thompson Chaplin Aluko Celina Let's go win the game.
