"How's that Russian money going?" 20:32 - Mar 23 with 1773 views | Mullet | This could be satire couldn't it? I dunno what's odder the fact that clearly both had lines prepped with that "who pays your rent?" bit, or the fact they weren't decent enough to make eye contact but still engaged.

That clip ends with "right, let's get all the money back!" Good luck with that one! I assumed he would have used photocopied false notes!

They're accusing him, as a good tory would, of being on benefits.

I would imagine they are saying he is so poor he cannot afford to buy his own home and so lazy that he lives off charity. A certain amount of truth in it but they see it as something he should be ashamed of. He clearly isn't lazy, though, and there should be no shame in working for people who are prepared to donate your wages (unless it is bribery for favours).

That's what I thought but it seemed gross even for them. Clearly not too gross after all. Classy stuff.

It would be a total disgrace for any adult to live off the state in, say, a second home or have all their meals and drinks subsidised at the taxpayers' expense.

All the lazy poor are benefit spongers in their minds. Even if he isn't one himself, he is representing their interests.

I thought this was very well known. For the past three years he's been renting a £5million Westminster pad in the same street as Jacob Rees Mogg and it's paid for through his crowdfunding campaign. He doesn't hide this and his supporters are happy to pay. [Post edited 23 Mar 2022 21:16]

Is he still there, I thought it was only for a couple of months? That's some serious money to rent that property for 3 years, the sort of thing that only Russians can afford...maybe you're onto something Glassers, is this a Russian psyops mission, to fund Steve Bray and confuse the hell out of everybody??

I assumed he was when they asked 'who's paying your rent'? As the story came out three years ago. He's a resident of Port Talbot but he's in Westminster every day so he must be renting somewhere. As I said, it doesn't really matter as he's been entirely upfront about his funding. [Post edited 23 Mar 2022 21:45]

I’m not sure whether to be impressed with his determination or worried about his sanity. It’s a rather strange way to spend your days. But then at least he’s shining a light on their misdemeanours, which nobody else seems to want to do in the real world (a few notable journalists online excepted). It’s a lot more honest than the Think Tanks batting for the other side, but also comes across as more desperate.

They could just answer his questions I suppose.

This is the problem isn't it. They can justifiably dismiss someone heckling them in the street. People who they can't dismiss who should be posing questions and holding them to account, don't seem to want to. Much of the media are compliant. The Met don't give a feck about their law breaking, the Speaker doesn't give a feck about them breaking the rules of the House, they can lie to commons committees with no comeback. So depressing. We're a failed democracy.

I'm off to bed. I'm just starting series 9 of the Walking Dead. Maybe that will cheer me up a bit.
