Oxford's remaining fixtures 10:41 - Mar 29 with 4041 viewshype313

Plymouth
Morecambe
Sunderland
Fleetwood
MK Dons
Rotherham
Doncaster

Still think we have too much traffic and need maximum points for the remainder, but potentially they could have a nasty time of it...

Edited thanks to Thingers!

Plymouths is worse than that from memory, hopefully gives us room to get out of bloody 9th!

If we win the next two I'm going to become very confident, regardless of what happens elsewhere.

Surely we need to win all 6 though.

I think there's a good chance of us winning 4 but to beat Rotherham and Wigan will be tough. I suspect we may end up with 4 wins and 2 draws which unfortunately may mean we miss out.

Was hopeful that by the time we played them they would be out of sight and in Lunn Poly, but MK Dons are at their feet and Rotherham are hitting a downturn at the wrong time.

Add in the fact that we don't have a striker who is in form makes me think we have enough against the likes of Cambridge and Crewe but not enough to get the goals needed to outgun Wigan and Rotherham.

its actually rather painful to see oxford and plymouth in them 4th/5th positions.... and wycombe above us.

we've played them off the park and still above us!

i think it was joe that posted the % chance, winning the 6 gave us a 96% chance of 6th, winning 5 and drawing 1 was like 70% then dropped dramatically after that.

each game at a time, but i dont see why we cant win 6/6

Wigan can definitely beaten at home. I agree we need a fine run. Five wins will mean it's absolutely 50/50 I suspect; six and we'd definitely do it. Don't think it is worth ruling anything out — we have momentum, big crowds, an excellent team for the level and a few things might start dropping for us now.

Great positive attitude Thingers. As you say, no reason we can't win all the remaining games, we just need a little bit of luck. Seven on the bounce won't make international news innit :)

Oxford and Sheffield Wednesday's game in hand is potentially massive, they both win that an 8 point gap with 6 games games to go then becomes huge for us to close with the games left. You're then hoping those other sides aren't going to pick up any points with their remaining fixtures, which is very unlikely. Personally, I think we will close the gap on the top 6, but ultimately come up short and finish 7th.

Been thinking for weeks that Oxford are the ones to catch. They have a tough run in and I think we're a better side than them. If we played them on a neutral venue tomorrow I would back us to win 7 out of 10. That late goal was and still is a real choker. If we were sat 2 points behind them right now!!!

Ultimately, it's not that goal that will cost us. Painful as it was.

Was gonna post the same. So true, but that was the biggest gut of the season (so far). Great how the highs and lows come so much sharper into focus at this stage. That's footy.

If we kept our 2 goal lead against Wimbledon and Cambridge we'd be 2 points off. It's (obviously) the games under Cook that has made this hard. Those 2 games the main ones for me, where we were in a strong position and threw it away

If Oxford get 11 points from that seven (3 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats ... OP misses out Donny at home on final day) then five wins and a draw will see us do them on goal difference. We can't afford much less than that but I do think that if we achieve what's needed in the next 11 days people will be thinking quite differently.

Equally big a factor as Town winning all our remaining games is at least three others royally messing up, and after blistering recent form? But hell, let's take it a game at a time...

Oh no, of course not. And supposing we finish on 75 points this season which is 11 points from our next 6 games, which feels realistic (and is actually a lower PPG than we've averaged under KM thus far), then it's probably top 2 form over the 2nd half of the season. It's 92 points if you extrapolate it over a season, and that's a full half season which is a big enough sample.

It's the first half that's cost us, no doubt about that at all.

Precisely

We absolutely need to keep our house in order and win 3 on the trot. We’ve not done that yet.

We then draw one. We won’t see Rotherham school us/bully us like they have previously. We are so much better than that now. I don’t think a win is unrealistic but a goalless or low score draw more likely.

Then win the final 3 games. Home at Wigan on a Tuesday night plays into our hands I feel.

If we win the next 6 games, including the current top 2, finish on 82 points and don't make the top 6 then frankly so be it. What an effort. That would be a remarkable total to miss out on the p/offs.

It would be as big a guterama as there could be, and frankly, fooking typical innit.

Any team that concedes 6 goals in 17 games (including 12 clean sheets) can beat anyone.

Exactly. It may all come crashing down as soon as Saturday, and other teams might say *we* are due a defeat, but I'm more optimistic than quite a lot of people here. I think this is far from done.

The flip side of that, though, is that we’re not scoring enough. Six wins out of six is hard when goals are hard to come by. I would certainly settle for six 1-0 wins!

Exactly, cannot see where the goals will come from to achieve a winning streak like 6 games in a row
