Eleven goals this season is a pretty good return, I think. And the same from Burns also.

Three players reaching double figures for us this season - that can't have happened since 2004/05?

Probably not, but we're still missing the striker we lost when Waggy moved on.

Apparently so.

07/08 I think.

Lee, Pablo and Walters.

I read earlier this week that he has always been a striker before this season. Also, none of our strikers are performing well.

Isn't there an obvious solution here?

Just checked, good shout.

Our home record that season was ridiculous. As was our away record.

I'd certainly like to see him start against Charlton up top, perhaps with Aluko and Celina behind.

To date that is still the last good season that genuinely entertained in terms of style.

That is indeed correct.

He’s the only one who ever looks to take a shot - amazing isn’t it. Shoot at the goal and you stand more chance of scoring a goal than if you pass it around all day - amazing !

A key player next season surely.

He’s deadly from 10-18 yards, no one else can touch him in the squad for that. Give him a regular berth next year and forgive a few quiet games I say, see what he can really do

I’m long enough in the tooth to see him as our modern day Eric Gates…. Bloody deadly just behind the striker (S)

Imagine Chaplin playing just behind Murphy in the PO season.

I've thought that. Now we just have to find a modern day Paul Mariner.

He's scored 2 in 2. Before that was 2 in 26. Or something like that.

I like Chaplin. But he's been a part of our scoring problems since Xmas. Is the answer to move him uptop where he says he's always played?? Would we get a more regular output from him then?

a niche perspective

Good return, particularly considering the nature of his stop / start season where he’s been in and out of the side. He’s only started half of our games. He’s a really good player I think, frustrating at times when he tries to do a bit too much but I think you have to take the rough with the smooth with him. His movement in the final 3rd is excellent.

I would prefer him behind the striker(s). He contributes an awful lot linking up in that space between the opposition midfield and defense. He has done much more than Celina and Aluko. Plus I would prefer striker(s) with more physical presence.
