GO ON WESLEY! (n/t) 15:35 - Jun 1 with 1811 viewsSTYG

In the starting line up.

I know that League Two's Jonny Williams is as well and that they've clearly rested the starts, but that's still a vote of confidence to go from never having played to straight into the line-up.

I'd forgotten how nervous about injuries one gets when you actually have good players and they get called up!

Baggott's just come on for Indonesia as well.

Multiple decent players at risk of international injury. Someone call 2002 and ask it what we do!

Can't believe Jonny Williams is still only 28!

I was going to laugh and post of course he is before confirming he's 33.

But you are right. He is 28! Genuinely stunned.

Wes playing on the left and seeing plenty of the ball and doing OK.

Everything he deserves. Has been nothing short of brilliant for us this season.

It was a bit of a crime he hasn’t been picked before.

Is there a chance that a stand-out performance this evening could put him into contention for Sunday? Or is it more likely that the squads/teams have already been decided, hence the playing of the 'reserves' this evening?

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Could have scored from a corner.

Maybe the answer to our LWB question was in the club all along....

Danny Gabbidon on BBC

'I've been really impressed with the play of Wes Burns so far, really good on the ball, really confident, looking to link with the front players.

Defensively every time Poland have got in crossing situations he's tucked in alongside Rhys Norrington-Davies.'

Yep. Maybe. A fit and firing KVY on the right? Just that would break up Burns & Donacien combo down the right.

He'll be our first big casualty, not to injury (I hope) but someone will come in with good money and take him.

I'll be gutted if we only get one season from him.

I fear we'll get an offer than can't be refused by a well run business.

John Hartson just used the vision amongst a bunch of Welsh I sadly don't understand.....but I'm going to take that as he's playing well

A la the Fast Show with Chris Waddle. A load of vowels chucked together then suddenly "Wes Burns"

Yes, I don't really think that works :) And while he is doing brilliantly playing out of position on his debut, I sense he is playing somewhat deeper. He is not really doing the job he does on the right with Ipswich - as you say, that combination with JD is lethal - but equally Poland aren't exactly Charlton!
