Crypto going well i see… on 07:17 - Jun 13 with 2224 views | DanTheMan | I do feel bad who have fallen for this, as they will be the ones who lose out whilst the millionaires and billionaires behind it won't. At the same time, this is exactly why we have regulation for all the other parts of finance. It's quite hilarious to watch a bunch of people slowly relearn all the reasons for regulations in the first place.

Absolutely. Also why there is a lot of nervousness in Sunderland FC right now about moves by a crypto based business getting involved up there.

Crypto going well i see… on 07:53 - Jun 13 with 2120 views | StokieBlue | How they can claim to be decentralised but are also able to suspend the network shows that in reality they are very centralised: "The Celsius Network, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform and one of the largest crypto lenders, announced Sunday night that it was “pausing all withdrawals, Swap, and transfers between accounts.” It has 1.7 million customers." Looks like they paid 18.6% interest per annum, a massive amount and given coupon is a function of risk this certainly qualifies as a huge risky asset. Their coin has lost 92% of it's value since April. SB

I have very limited sympathy. It is clearly a massive gamble and something that should only be done with money that people can truly afford to lose. It’s incredibly negligent that all this isn’t being better regulated more quickly.

If you try to reinvent the wheel, you end up with something which is very much like a wheel. Or something which doesn't work.

The regulation really ought to come from common sense and the publication of clear, unimpeachable explanatory advice from trusted sources. Beyond that, you can't waste the time and effort of traditional governmental and legislative authorities in trying to stop the stupid and greedy being stupid and greedy - there are far more important things to regulate right now.

I'd have said that stopping the greedy being greedy has always been quite an important part of government. Besides which , much like the dot-com bubble of the early 2000s, these escapades burn a lot of investment capital, which leaves things like pensions, charities and local authority funds short, resulting in people putting their money elsewhere (e.g. into creating fragile housing bubbles instead).

Crypto going well i see… on 09:58 - Jun 13 with 1622 views | J2BLUE | My cryptocurrency fluctuates so much. It must have lost about 90% of it's value. I knew it was a gamble though and have written it off. Occasionally I remember to check it.

The thing is it's being heavily pushed by some unscrupulous people, so they do have my limited sympathy. Just the other day there was an interview with some nonsense Elon Musk coin (I feel gross typing that) that had an interview on Fox News in the US, on their mainstream trading programme. When asked what value their coin had they basically just sidestepped the question. But they still got that sweet exposure. Think they were also on some other news channels. Here is that coin. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/elon-goat/ Down massive amounts in a week. Probably will drop further. In the interviews they were talking about how people had put their life savings into it. These scam artists will get away with it continuously until we better regulate it. If the Government really want to make us leaders in this space (assuming it's here to stay) their first step should be massive amounts of regulation. Which will probably kill it because the people making money don't want regulation. Because they can't scam people if there is.

Crypto going well i see… on 13:25 - Jun 13 with 1301 views | ITFCson | Bizarre multiple people are offering sympathy for people ‘fallen’ for investing in crypto. I have a reasonable amount of various coins. My overall value this year has gone down a lot. And yet I much rather see a red day than a green day meaning that I can buy much more at a discounted price. This cycle is no different to previous cycles.

That makes no sense, it's essentially the "this is good for bitcoin" arguement. Nobody can look at what happened to say Luna and say that it losing basically all value was great.

What happened to Luna wasn't good for Luna holders. But you can't compare Luna to Bitcoin.

I'm holdl all the way, like all markets it will peak and trough but long term Web 3 will be coming. I've spread my risk and not put in anything I can't afford to lose so holdl to the grave, I'm thinking years not months

Surely it was good though, it went red! With your strategy you would have lost all your money. There is buying the dip, and then there is just throwing your money into a fire. EDIT: Just saw the martingale post, lol [Post edited 13 Jun 2022 14:34]

Talking of Musk, this is, err, an interesting approach:
