Amongst the understandable annoyance at us losing, I think it is worth noting that Plymouth were, by a margin, the best team we've played this season.
They stifled our passing game pretty well, making us go long a lot more, pressed excellently for the full match, and looked creative in the final third.
They will be there or thereabouts come May. |  |

Their fitness held up well towards the end, they caught us on the break a few times where we looked tired, which surprised me
They're pretty athletic and a bit more rugged than us, which has always been our kryptonite

I think that's a bit harsh on Plymouth, they have worked their socks off for that win
The second in particular comes from sloppy play but they improved their pressing in the second half and made things more difficult for us
I still think on another day with better composure, we'd have taken a 2 - 0 lead and should have seen it out | |

I thought it was a cracking game between two really good sides.
I think they got their first goal against the run of play (and I'm sure it's been discussed to death on here but the barge on Chaplin almost always gets given by referees so can feel hard done by there) and the second was an absolute screamer - either of those go our way and we may well have got at least a point out of it.

Interesting that both of their goals came from outside the 18 yard line, whereas we very rarely ever hit it from distance. There was one chance near the end when it opened up for Jackson as he cut in from the left but he chose not to shoot and the chance was gone.
The number of goals town concede from distance seems quite high - seem to recall both Crewe and Shrewsbury denying us 2 points with long range goals at the back end of last season. Maybe we don’t think other teams will score from there so are slow to close down? | | | |

What I did notice was how Wolfy and George both struggled with quick changes in direction. A few times especially first half. Just a quick phase of play by them nearly got them goals as both our cbs were turned over. |  |

Good side, better than I'd expected. I still think we were a shade better than them for around two thirds of the game; it has to go down as one that we've thrown away. Overall our performance levels are really, really consistent but it is obviously a concern that, like last season, we are squandering great positions. | |

Always difficult to make judgement based on one game where most of it went well.
I do feel perhaps a few of the more suspect players are getting tired. The two obvious replacements are Ball for Evans for at least part of the match to shore things up and Keogh for Edmundsen who appears to be struggling at the moment.
There is no point recruiting top players and then not using them. This gives the others a breather.
It is a long old season and the likes of Camara and Adahme will definitely need to play their part. | | | |
