Ashes ticket prices 2023 09:57 - Sep 27 with 6067 views | Radlett_blue | I have a mate who's an MCC member. He usually invites me to a day of the Lord's Test (I pay for my ticket) & in return I usually get us tickets for the Oval Test. Applications have opened for next year's Lord's Ashes Test. It is £170 just for a ticket, plus an extra £30 for a reserved seat! After a lousy experience at Lord's this year (only 30 overs bowled, so no refund) I am saying no. Obviously it's a free choice & some people are willing to pay up, while Lord's always prices highly because so many tickets are taken up by MCC members. I have entered the Oval ballot (prices are always a bit cheaper there) but will be interested to see how much before I decide whether to bite. I was washed out on Thursday this year (at least £95 to be refunded).

This obsession with Ashes series is incredibly tedious but just part of the short-term greed of the ECB and CA (not forgetting the BCCI here either). I did get two decent days of Test cricket this year (plus a day's refund from the Oval too) so will probably go in for tickets for all the London Tests but it is pushing the limits now. It doesn't help that there are five Tests squeezed into about six weeks in June and July. Another Summer with no chance of any real narrative developing over the series to fir the Hundered in.

Ashes ticket prices 2023 on 10:05 - Sep 27 with 5992 views | itfc48 | The Ashes premium is in full effect this year. It's £115 for a day in the Hollies at Edgbaston and £90 for a day in the Western Terrace at Headingley and these are historically some of the more affordable stands. I know most of the prices at Headingley are a 50% increase on the NZ prices from this summer. However, people will still probably pay those prices despite how daft they are and the current cost of living.

There used to be some restricted view seats in the Mound stand that were good value - lost sight of a bit of the Nursery boundary.

The reserved seating is to deal with MCC members & their guests. MCC members were allowed in free to any Test. If they wanted a guest (maximum 2) they had to buy them Rover tickets. However, there was usually a scrum to get a seat in the members' guest area (usually the Warner Stand) so people were getting there when the gates opened to grab seats. I also witnesses disputes over if a seat had been saved by someone putting a coat on it. The reserved seat £30 fee is another nice little earner for MCC as people want to sit with their guests. By Summer 2023 there will be plenty of tickets on the market. Things like test cricket which is a fantastic spectacle, but not cheap are going to be the things that people can no longer afford to do. I go to test cricket every year but with things as they are, I'm not shelling out money in advance. If I'm in a position to afford going to test cricket next summer I'm fairly certain tickets will be available, i hate to say it but things are not going to be very nice financially for a lot of people next year.

I always found with Headingley that you had to pay an extra premium if you wanted a guaranteed ticket for an Ashes Test, in the form of YCCC membership for a year. Not going to try for next year though.

Ashes ticket prices 2023 on 11:06 - Sep 27 with 5791 views | giant_stow | I'm off live cricket since a 20/20 match at the oval a few years back. It rained from the scheduled start time right to the end, but rather than give us our money back, they played a 5 over game in the same rain that was always there. Edit: not that you asked! I just know where you're coming from in a small way. [Post edited 27 Sep 2022 11:07]

Ashes ticket prices 2023 on 11:30 - Sep 27 with 5751 views | ITFC_Forever | I haven't been to a Test for a few years now, and used to go at least one day a year. It's simply got too expensive to justify.

Same here used to go every year, but just can't justify the cost anymore, the annoying thing is any dip in crowd attendance will no doubt blamed on waning interest in test cricket, and not the stupidly expensive tickets or crammed schedule. I feel sorry for the Oz fans who travel here as they'll be paying even more to their tour organisers just to guarantee a ticket. But it could be worse they could have adopted the demand led pricing model they've started using for F1 at Silverstone, basically like airline flights the more tickets they sell the more the price rises and there are people literally going to be paying twice as much to sit next to one another based purely on when they bought their ticket.

Not sure about that, I'm a Yorkshire member and it costs about £260. That includes priority ballot for tests but full price for tickets.
