It would be funny if it didn't all have truly awful consequences for all of us.
Exactly this. I want to find it funny, but the consequences of all this are pretty dire. And personally, as a public sector employee currently in the process of buying a house, I'm more than a little nervous.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Very understandable. I hope it all goes ok for you, truly.
My guess is that a group of Conservative MPs will give her some kind of ultimatum, if there's enough that are willing to resign the whip and support a no confidence vote then she'll have to resign.
She can't carry on now, given that she went round the country in the leadership campaign touting these policies, and now has to completely abandon them.

From the guardian blog:
I wonder who would be desperate enough to say yes to being the new chancellor?
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa
If it somehow results in a GE now tho (unlikely I know), it'd be better in the long term.
The situation is totally a mess for the Tories - It'd objectively be bonkers for them to go through another public leadership campaign with another PM elected by MPs/members (would Boris stand and win?), but also completely bonkers for them to just somehow elect someone without any democracy, and they'd also be completely insane to support a General Election under Truss, because they'd be annihilated.

It's actually going to be really interesting to see what their latest thinking is on how to remedy the rapid disintegration of all aspects of the British State since 2016.

Unfortunately I think there may be an element of "this is all such a stinking mess, why don't we give ourselves a bit of a rest & let Labour deal with the poisoned chalice we'd be handing them. Then in 5 years' time we can blame them for not having sorted it all out 100%" :(
R5 Live saying that Chris Philp, Kwarteng's no.2, is also going - my guess is the new persona has insisted on that which might indicate someone like Hunt from way outside Truss's camp.
Mad to accept it, though. So, yes, it's probably Hunt.

Some of us tried to warn you ... Project Here.
"Alexander Yakovenko, Russia’s ambassador to Britain from 2011, returned home in 2019. Putin made him a member of the Order of Alexander Nevsky and president of his Diplomatic Academy. Yakovenko explained to his admiring colleagues that the state was rewarding him for smashing the Brits to the ground. “It will be a long time before they rise again.” Mission accomplished, he could enjoy the honours bestowed by a grateful dictator."

I forget who it was who described Philp as 'a nose desperately searching for a bum'!

Interestingly, the pound has dropped a fair bit since the sacking came out, apparently. Wonder what the traders' logic is? Total guess, but maybe it means shes more likely to survive by sacking him / bad news?
