Watching Rams TV assesment of the game 10:52 - Oct 22 with 4116 views | GeoffSentence | Which has been pretty good and objective. One thing Shaun Barker said though was that if there was VAR we might have had a player sent off for a dangerous, nasty tackle. I don't recall anything that even hinted at a sending off from either side. Anyone know what tackle he was referring to?

Roughly when did that happen? With VAR the penalty gets retaken too.

About 10 mins before the goal He got the ball but went over the top of it and caught the player. The penalty should have been retaken, then Jacko could have missed it twice

Watching Rams TV assesment of the game on 11:00 - Oct 22 with 4004 views | Darth_Koont | Think he’s probably referring to the Evans challenge where he won the ball but then seemed to leave his foot in and ended going over the top, studs up, on the Derby player. Not sure how intentional it was or even if intent matters but I’ve seen similar challenges get red cards. I’m guessing it was about half an hour into the game but can’t really remember.

1st half went in high on the ball and ended up landing on his foot, never a red in my eyes, just a strong tackle

Arguable that with var then penalty probably isn’t given

With VAR we could have 2 first penalties on TJJ to miss | | | | Login to get fewer ads

VAR's the sort of bloke who can start a fight when he isn't even in the room.

Not how VAR works now. Has to be a clear and obvious error. Much as it was a slightly soft decision, there was contact on the player and certainly not clearly a wrong decision.

I will watch it back. The commentators said the same about an Evans challenge last time we were on TV. Is it something that they are interpreting differently to the referees? Or do they have a particular agendum with Evans? Or is it something in his game that he is getting away with? Certainly, didn't seem to be a reaction from the Derby players as far as I can recall. Presumably with a retaken penalty you don't have to have the same player take it the second time (although I would imagine they normally do). I was sat right behind the other goal and felt it was fairly clear that was where Jackson was going to put it. I suppose there may be an element of double bluff, but it looked like it would have been difficult for him to place it the other side from the angle of his run. Maybe I am wrong, though, as I am no expert!

Thanks, just watched it back on ifollow. If that was the one then I think Derby are overselling it. It wasn't nasty, nor dangerous. He made the tackle, then in the follow through his foot kicks the shin, that why they wear pads, then his foot lands on the Derby player's foot. Studs weren't up, Evans was standing and in total control. Maybe a yellow at worst for clattering his shin.

If that is the case we would have had a pen early on for a tackle on Jules

Watching Rams TV assesment of the game on 11:02 - Oct 23 with 2364 views | strikalite | I'm sorry to say that it's a straight red all day long, whether you win the ball or not he's endangering an opponent, luckily for us the ref didn't see it.....and obviously no VAR. Evan's was lucky not to be sent off too at Plymouth foe very similar, I do like Evan's and that bit of nastiness he brings in the middle, but he has to stop these square on studs showing tackles, they're banned, as simple as that..

If the tackle they are referring to is the one on 55 minutes, it wasn't a square on studs showing tackle.

It was very sad to see their player stretchered off. How long is he out for? There is a reason none of the Derby players made a big deal of the challenge.

He definitely didn't go over the top, that isn't what that means, but it was a nasty follow through 50/50 whether that is a sending off or not. Kicked through the ball and definitely left some on him.

I am pretty sure that can only happen if the ref didnt see the incident. As this was part of the football action he would pretty much be admitting incompetence if he were to say that he didnt see it.

Lets not forget TV always love to court controversary! If its a red it should not be one and vice versa . Same for most penalties and how many times that looks offside and its not !

Indeed, I did watch it back. I don't think the commentators actually made that big a deal of it either. They said it was a bit naughty and he was lucky to get away with it. I think there is an argument it was a foul and should have been a yellow card. The referee didn't see the follow-through and saw it as a fair challenge. I do wonder if there is one commentator (or maybe a couple of them) who don't like Evans and so are picking him out for this. On the flip side, maybe it is part of his game and those who played it know more about intent than I do.
