Humphreys really is a top prospect. 18:30 - Nov 19 with 3354 viewscbower

Can pick a pass, has tenacity, energy, positional sense, not afraid to shoot, shows discipline and despite his tender years he is in no way getting bullied in the hurly burly of central midfield. Thought he and Morsy complimented one another very nicely. He has the edginess and energy of Downes and the skill of Dozzell. That's a nice combination.

Yes, perhaps Kieron Dyer knows what he is talking about.

Not really though a great prospect no way is he better than Morsey or Evans

He could be the next Jonathan Douglas if he carries on like this

Agreed. Great prospect.

Didn't KD say he was the 2nd best m/f at the club? And that was last season when Evans was much maligned by many on TWTD. Maybe he was right.

Not noticing him is a good thing in this instance....slipped in effortlessly.

He's that good imo that if he didn't look like a teen you w9uldnt even think he's just coming in from academy football. His weight of pass is incredible for someone so young and those flighted loft balls he sends up the pitch aren't done without thought. Very very promising future.

Sometimes injuries can open up opportunities for players - in this case Humphreys has grabbed it with both hands which is great to see.

There was one time I think in the second half when three players surrounded him, and he just made a simple turn and passed the ball to the wing. It was beautiful.

Wether he should have appeared in the first team in the league before this season we shall never know.

I was hoping the other was on there, it 2nd half too and he floated it over the top to davis from just outside our box. Just brilliant.

That was very like Evans except he’s only 19. He’ll only get better. Downes wasn’t wrong when he said that Humphrey’s is the best prospect. Looking forward to seeing mature into a great player, just hope we can keep hold of him for a few seasons.

What impresses me most about Humphreys is his ability to deal with the physicality of the senior game so well. He has to be able to do that first in order to be able to show his true qualities.

As an aside but along the same theme, This was where Andre Dozzell didn’t fair so well in his time with us ….in my humble opinion .

It looks like he has a more complete skill set than both. Maybe not as strong a tackler or as good a dribbler as morsy, and maybe not as good at long-range passing as evans (yet) but he can do all of those things and more. Plus he can run a midfield at 19. I can see exactly what dyer was saying.

My question is, if kieron was right about humphreys, who else was he right about? Do we need to start giving chirewa game time?

He's got a far higher ceiling than both. Morsy is superb for us but there is a reason the peak of his career has been around mid-table in the Championship. Evans ditto and he's not even been a regular starter at that level.

It's going to be really interesting because Humphreys now has until Evans is back to make that role his own and he could be very hard to drop if he maintains his levels or as I suspect, keeps improving - McKenna clearly bloody loves him too.

He’s got a great engine so stamina in games isn’t an issue. But I think managing his workload over the season will be good for him in the long run.

That’s why I think Evans will come back in fairly quickly. Otherwise I agree that Humphreys would challenge to keep his place on performances alone.

Edit: Also with Davis and Chaplin we already have left-footers capable of great delivery but Evans gives us the same quality on his right foot. That’ll be a factor too, I expect, through no fault of Humphrey’s own.
