I have 15 teeth and no denture...you will know me by my smile. Did try once but couldn't get used to them....gag!

Not too uncomfortable at the moment but took an hour to eat a pizza this evening. Dentures only replacing my two front teeth so hopefully when I smile at Carol, she’ll reciprocate
We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub.

There is no such thing as old! Just us all travelling through the journey of this thing called life.
I've hated any interactions with my teeth since the age of 13! (Having a tooth drilled and filled with no anesthetic at that age would kinda do that)
Which meant I avoided any dental care for years... until too many of my teeth started looking for freedom from their respective sockets. Hence as a late attempt I've been seeing a periodontist for the past 18 months which has helped.
Anyways, despite my attempts to keep certain amounts of enamel in my head. As a 48 yo who has been optically challenged all my life, I went to get my eyes checked etc etc.
For the first time ever I had the wake up call that I'm aging badly in terms of the V word!

Hope the dentures help your situation, if they don't go back and read your Dentist the riot act or seek a second opinion.

Well of course Lancelot. The front two are survivors although they are crowned due to colliding with a cricket roller during a play fight in my teenage years. I had that cartoon moment of shattering teeth falling out!

You’ll get used to them….had them since 2004. I was 34. Just remember to put a bit of Fixodent on them, other wise they will happily leave your mouth when you are having something chewy. Not a good sight. I can personally vouch for this.ðŸ‘

I too fled from the dentist the moment I was big enough to hit back. The swine had the policy ‘boys are brave, boys don’t have injection’. This one wasn’t and I fled the scene for 20 years.
I was driven back to the butchers by toothache and my staff at the time being fed up of my constant bad temper. Dragged in filled with terror I met this dentist called Sue. Chinese, brutal, no nonsense but actually very good - and very expensive. It went ok and I’ve been a regular attender ever since.
You’ll never get me near an NHS one, that’s for sure.
I’ve been very lucky with the old tombstones and retain most of them fortunately. Unlike my sister whose had terrible trouble at a cost of 1000s

NHS dentists vary greatly but overall quality is much better than many years ago (just very difficult to get one). I know many people who used to hate visiting the dentist due to bad experiences from the past who find once they overcome that fear, modern dentists are much better.
My current dentist is great apart from when she wants to make a mould of my teeth. The sensation of the plasticine stuff in the back of my throat making me gag is unpleasant!

Oh modern dentistry is light years ahead of animals that used to haunt the surgeries. As a ‘born again dental attender’ I go every 6 months and have done for years now and encourage other faint hearts like me to go.
But the feeling of fear as I breezily trudge in with a ready smile has never left me though. The sweaty palms, forgetting to breathe n all that jazz. The feeling of joy as I skip out of the surgery is sublime. Hands up whose a dentist coward: that’ll be me!
