Goal celebrations 00:50 - Mar 5 with 2405 views | norfsufblue | It seems to me that once the spontaneous joy of scoring a goal has resulted in a huddle we then go into a rehearsed retreat back to our half which is probably to enable the clearing of minds and reshape of the team... there always seems to be one straggler just to make sure everything is set!...... we are by no means the only ones who do this btw but it does seem more stage managed now??

Also to wind up the ref regarding Hamer's timewasting at throw-ins!

Burns making throw in motions at him when we were a couple of goals up was the highlight of the afternoon.

Goal celebrations on 15:47 - Mar 6 with 1304 views | MattinLondon | Off-topic - but is there a rule about goal celebrations? And I don’t mean regarding time wasting. During the World Cup when Argentina scored all of the squad all celebrated together but one of the senior players visibly told one of the players to stay on the pitch. Is this due to a rule?

I've been told and read that, apparently, one player must remain on the pitch otherwise the referee can restart the game. According to the actual rules, though, it's a load of ole squit: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/revealed-truth-behind-rule-players- [Post edited 6 Mar 2023 15:55]

Goal celebrations on 16:13 - Mar 6 with 1183 views | xrayspecs | It has been going on for years although it is becoming more pronounced. Players jogging/walking diagonally across the pitch to delay the restart is something we did years ago. Morsy praying before the restart is an interesting new development though. Not sure the refs are going to card him for praying. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Play can’t restart if you’re in the oppositions half

He walked back so slowly it was like time was going into reverse.

How was there only 4 minutes added on at the end of the 90? Not that it mattered much

The ref effectively "stopped the fight" early
Goal celebrations on 23:32 - Mar 6 with 690 views | Sharkey | Do you mean that one player loiters in the opposition half? That's because the ref shouldn't re-start the game until there are no players in the opposition's half of the pitch . Similarly, that's why when everyone celebrates a goal off the pitch behind the goal, one player stays on the pitch in the opposition half. If everyone in the team that scored was off the pitch celebrating, the ref could re-start the game, and the team that just conceded would obviously concede a goal. I wish the law would change, and the ref could re-start the game a minute or so after the goal, to cut out these ridiculously over-long goal celebrations + 'huddles'.
