You really need to get a grip, and let go of one of the most pathetic obsessions with being right that I've seen on here. There's no need for that middle paragraph, just let it lie for goodness sakes. Embarrassing

Don't worry about him. Let him do what he wants if he keeps him happy. The end of the day he didn't like negative comments when things weren't great. Now he doesn't like positive so it's obvious to all what his actual problem is. Anyways he's on ignore so I can't see his post. But don't waste your time posting to him, it's much easier to enjoy the forum when you ignore him.

Ironically it's you who seems to have your knickers in a twist! It's a forum for talking sh1t innit. No problem calling posters out on stuff they said last season let alone a current one. Let these guys carry on if that's how they use the forum, as long as it's not abusive who cares. Makers doesn't need a chaperone.

What wider discussion - it was a post about one goal in one game and had anyone else posted it would have been fine. Stuff like this (including me in that as I've now done the same) makes this forum tiresome to read. Play the ball not the man, at least some of the time.

Relentless negativity towards Burns was the matter being raised... But as I say, who cares! COYFB

You can't just take one post in isolation though, there's a wider context. Stuff posted before doesn't just disappear and become null and void. If another poster had made disparaging comments about the players involved previously they'd also have been reminded of it. Basically, don't slate a player too quickly or it may come back to bite you (actually don't slate players too early anyway, give them a chance).

Months of "whackerball" is the context you are choosing to ignore. Frimley should reflect on the persist use of that when Burns contributes to a great move. No issue with negative takes on players, but namecalling players is poor form.

Not really. The original poster has said some really disingenuous stuff about town players - including Burns. Now everything is rosy in the garden again it’s all fine.

Genuine question Would you rather someone remind you of his poor form and others of which burns himself even agreed he despite scoring some important goals he may not have played well. Opinions shared by various people including the likes of Mills who you Said earlier must have been clueless. Or would you rather see posts commenting on what's happening now. It's a rather bizarre obsession you and others have with what's posted in the past. You bemoaned the negativity then yet you bemoan the positivity when individual performances warrant it. Your the first to say some posters went missing when we started winning. Well now your bemoaning ones that remained and have enjoyed the run and discuss the run as it should be and the player performances during it. Anyways. I'm enjoying the run. The footballs great. The results are too and the individual performances are fantastic. They weren't regular halfway through he season. They are now. And here we are. So again coyb. If you and others want to spend you days bemoaning previous posts go for it. But I'm here for what's happening currently. If we stop performing I will share my thoughts just like earlier today about hirst dropping too deep first half etc. That is football!

A small point of order. I was perfectly polite in my response and stating that someone might want to reflect on past viewpoints is simply advice. You however have been following me around for a while usually popping up with a less than civil response. SB [Post edited 1 Apr 2023 21:06]

I think you post some great stuff Frimley. The problem is some people can see the bigger picture, the club growing, an enjoyable style of play being reinforced over and over. Mistakes happen, players dip a bit in and out of form but it’s been clear this club has been growing towards these last seven performances and will improve further. (The times to moan have been plenty in recent years, but surely with the investment and improvements of every facet of the club it’s the time as a supporter to get fully behind the team.) Negative nicknames for any of this team are surely unnecessary, as was your dislike of McKenna’s voice the first time you heard him. I think the plea from McKenna a couple of games back regarding playing out from the back is a classic example - don’t moan if it goes wrong, get onside with the plan. I imagine a number of people feel that if you’re going to pick holes and point out failings (that everyone can see) all the time then maybe you shouldn’t get to enjoy the good times so much.

I dunno, people have memories. I guess Frimmers has me on ignore so someone should tell him - don't go so early with negative views. There are no prizes for calling it first, even if you were to get it right. He's the epitome of what's wrong with the modern fan. Lacking in patience, wanting to stand out with a hot take (particularly in social media), throwing loads of sh!t at a wall in the hope one piece might stick, and then saying "well that was all in the past, ignore that and read this." All whilst not even going to games and actually 'supporting'. He has every right to post what he wants, it's a free forum. But people have every right to call him out on it (and refer back to it).

I feel the same way about religion. Someone once said (I don't remember who), "You have the absolute right to believe in whatever you wish, and I have the absolute right to ridicule you for it." Hot takes and being edgy are the scourge of social media. And football forums.

“He's the epitome of what's wrong with the modern fan.” I’d add to this. He’s the epitome of what’s wrong with the modern fan WHO DOESN’T GO TO GAMES. And I’ll back that up by saying there’s less emotional (as well as financial) investment in the club. There’s less nuance. There’s less feeling part of what is actually going on at the club. There’s less empathy with the players. Less empathy with the other fans. Less real highs and less real lows. There’s a difference between making the journey to and from the ground before and after a loss or win, and just switching on and off a laptop with a VPN. There’s a difference between celebrating or commiserating with thousands of likeminded people sharing one emotion, one passion, and fist pumping a win or a loss sitting in your spare bedroom. It’s easier to flip and flop when you don’t go to games because there’s less investment in supporting the team. Simple. [Post edited 2 Apr 2023 8:36]
