One tiny, tiny detail from today that says it all... 17:36 - May 7 with 4310 views | jasondozzell | About midway through the first half, making heavy weather of it a bit, and someone (I think Mass) had the ball and elected not to play it forward at the first opp. McKenna looked disgusted and showed his annoyance with one of his performative dismissive waves of his hands. Even his angry reactions are somehow restrained and classy... I just thought that said it all. Would have been easy to let it go today, promotion secured and a hangover perhaps to be expected, and to stand on the sideline and clap, but his standards are so high and he said as much in his comments after the game. That's why we're so lucky to have him. He's a football obsessive and he's offended when we don't follow the principles! And nothing against Mass! He's been superb. What a brilliant season.

He's very ambitious to succeed. I wonder if we'll see a ruthless streak we've not witnessed thus far.

One tiny, tiny detail from today that says it all... on 18:18 - May 7 with 3931 views | clive_baker | You would expect that from natural winners. Todays performance had all the hallmarks of a team that did the job last week. It’s inevitable to a large extent, forgivable to an extent. The prize was always going up and the reality is we could’ve humped them 0-5 and we still would’ve finished 2nd as it happened. There’s a much bigger picture and that was getting out of league 1. Took a hell of an effort to achieve it but achieve it we did. 100 points would’ve been nice but ultimately it doesn’t mean anything. The only downside really today is that we don’t get to start next season with a full contingent. It was a really cheap red card, 2 poor tackles that gave the ref little choice. Hopefully a learning opportunity for Clarke and a reminder to stay humble and grounded.

One tiny, tiny detail from today that says it all... on 18:19 - May 7 with 3914 views | Epiphone | No Morsy,no driving force,a bit of a dead rubber, but having said all that the real result had already been achieved last week so let's just focus on the joy of escaping this god-awful Division in KMc's first full Season in charge.

One tiny, tiny detail from today that says it all... on 19:06 - May 7 with 3661 views | Crawfordsboot | First of all thank you to the players and staff for a wonderful performance this season. After the dross of recent years this has been something to behold. However….. I was so frustrated with the performance today. Supporters had paid plenty for ifollow, or the beamback or for the long trip to Fleetwood only for the team to give a slapdash display, carelessly giving away control and possession far too often. We huffed and puffed and only stayed in the game courtesy of our fitness and superior skill. I thought we would then see it out by bringing on fresh legs out wide as Fleetwood tired. We brought on the fresh legs and got into some great wide positions but time and time again simply crossed chest high balls into the first man of the Fleetwood low block. Only in the last ten minutes or so did the crosses get past the first man and into the mixer. To add insult to injury in the dying seconds of the game we won two corners but left the tallest player on the park to guard our goal. As captain on the day why didn’t he get up into their box and try to score or cause havoc for someone else to score. Had Fleetwood broken away and scored so what, we would still be promoted with 100+ goals. Had we scored we would have had the glory of 100 goals, 100 points and promotion. Equally disappointing that the coaching staff didn’t bother to send him up either. A chance missed and a flat and disappointing performance. That said we have to forgive everything on the day for this has been a truly wonderful season!

I think we can forgive the players for being human today. For three months they’ve been astonishing. Big picture says the club is set fair, the basic building block of the team are set fair. A draw at Fleetwood, with professional players playing for their career? Not going to lose any sleep over it. Auto Promotion was the target. Done last week. In fact, done at Peterborough and Barnsley. Well done all. Season done and I’m uber happy. The work for next season begins now. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Losing the game chasing 100 points would have been much more disappointing and wouldn't have been 'us' at all.

There should be no "however..." Our goal was promotion, job done. The celebration at PR last week will live long in the memory.

Games like that happen. Look at Manchester City drawing at Forest as an example. Yes, as frustrated others may realise, I'm annoyed at the rumours they spent half the week on the lash, as that was always going to affect performance considering we still had something to play for. But, we're up. It's what we wanted from the season and we got it.

I was frustrated as well, for what it's worth. Supposedly the players wanted the title, as did KMcK, and the 100 points, 100 goals were supposedly another target, but the performance suggested that they weren't that bothered about either. Delighted that we're promoted, and really looking forward to next season, but I was left disappointed with that performance.
