Having the Div 3 title on our record again was something I was dead against the moment we came down. There's a petty spiteful part of me that thought it'd be funny to have pipped Plymouth after the attitude of some of their fans lately.

When Vale's goal came through it did spark up the terrace a bit. But ultimately today was a massive let down for anyone wanting us to continue to be relentless and all that.

The game was not very good. The individual performances across the team were not very good. Ball is a decent player but didn't bring the leadership or expectations Morsy does. No one's fault just showed up really clearly today.

Clarke getting sent off was utterly stupid, the ref was keen to give out the odd soft booking but no complaints with his.

Ladapo's goal was a lovely moment and well deserved for all his efforts this season. Taking it to 100 for the season, even if the points didn't materialise was a nice landmark to see. Can't really count the playoff win as silverware, so the last time was also on a terrace but I didn't sit on Snr's shoulders today. Maybe that was the reason fate conspired against us. Given the way Marriott bundled home his chances we should blame Mick for the records which got away today?

Don't know if we really learnt anything at all today, beyond the players are human and the job was already done. It's all about next season and who we retain/release now. As horrible and humiliating as it has been at times in this sh1t division, I'm just glad it's over.

What a pleasure it is to share stands and all-seaters around the country with you lot when Town produce week after week of stomping teams into the ground eh?

Flat performance but understandable. Morsy is so integral to our intensity and it showed. Some lovely passes from Burgess. Hope his earlier weaknesses are not exposed next season. He has been outstanding for the 2nd half of this season.

Since he had his face reduced to kit form I've been falling more and more in love with the big handsome devil. He's looked brilliant at times. I suspect he will struggle for game time if we are ambitious with our signings, but who knows? Maybe Edmundson is first out the door now?

It was a long way down from the highs of Barnsley and Posh back to back, so I doubt today could have matched those.

First two paragraphs sum my thoughts up exactly.

A division one title to go on the honours list with a GENUINE division one title to remind us all of how far we fell.

…because coming second is better than coming first? Strange logic that. I’d rather be Champions of a tinpot league than runners-up in one. Who cares though? We’re up and we’re going to have a great season next year laying some ghosts to rest.

Dependency (for our optimum performances) on Morsy was very apparent today wasn't it. I think Luongo can provide a lot of what Morsy provides, but Ball maybe can't carry the ball so well as the two of them, decent option though he is.

Do we need two tenacious ball carriers in there next season, if so can Camara perhaps do it? If not is Taylor or even El Miz the answer? Or do we need a slightly different modus operandi if we Morsy or Luongo are unavailable? Something based on a stopper plus Humphreys or Evans as a distributor?

If we continue to play 4321, it has to have the intensity and physicality of both Morsy and Luongo (or someone of that ilk). Morsy plus any one else currently on the books might be overrun I fear.

Not exactly strange, given the context. I guess it's about ambition and standards. Too many of the fanbase blamed the wrong things and the wrong people, clapped us down here. Can't see the point in you "laying some ghosts to rest" when you're happy to be tinpot too.

Evidently you are not the only one who feels that way about the title but I have to say I don't get it. To my mind, history will show that we were down here and as such, I would have liked to have seen us win the Pizza Cup four years on the trot, not to mention the title! Aside from that, great post as always.

I'm still yet to be convinced by Ball. For a bloke that obviously has a degree of intelligence off the pitch, he often looks slow of thought on it to me. Hopefully the best is yet to come, he has certainly had a very disrupted season and deserves huge credit for just getting himself fit enough to help us over the line.

Maybe I will get flak for this because everyone was below par, but Jackson not hitting the back of the net late on summed up my issue with him going forward. Hardworking and athletic, he contributes no doubt. Yet when he's in that vital position where he can make the difference on a day like yesterday, he more often than not doesn't. Maybe his ability to stretch defences will be more beneficial in the Championship, but his weakness in front of goal would lead me to believe it is time for an upgrade.

Considering how Plymouth were so relentless, the title was always going to be a stretch. Missing out on 100/100 bugs me slightly more.

You mention ambition and standards, yet are an advocate of finishing second, as opposed to champions, albeit in league 1?! Got ya...

It was good we got the job done in style last week, but, me personally, I felt finishing second in a league we've been in for 4 years as opposed to first actually left me deflated... They should have wanted to have been promoted as champions, I'm sure they probably did, but it's a mindset.. 2nd is first place of the losers, as my brother said yesterday (he isn't a footy person)

Still, we've been promoted automatically, which was the aim... Champions would have been better....

The idea we were ever down here and happy about it always rankled me. Especially from the loudest hypocrites on here etc. The fact we finished 11th last season and it's taken so much money and talent is a good account of what was needed.

I don't think you can read anything at all into yesterday. The adrenaline had gone and too many made repeated mistakes. I've got a lot of trust in Ashton and McKenna to build a decent squad for next season, but I bet there will be headscratching decisions in the window.

Reading singing about a record points tally is the most tinpot thing in existence. Us doing it yesterday seemed to be a decent outcome, so when it went that was annoying. It was less something to celebrate more a nice underlining of how dominant this team had been.

Not happy about it but we were down here on merit and so to gloss over this period seems strange to me. Ultimately just happy to see the back of it, but would have been even happier with a trophy or two in hand.

I agree with that, although there is a pattern with Jackson in front of goal. Just not clinical enough for everything else he does well and has undoubtedly improved at.

Given it would have been an EFL first (apparently, although I’m surprised about that) it would have been the icing on the cake. I couldn’t care less really, but as things like this are always dragged up it would have been nice to be associated with a good record rather than that bloody Man U defeat.
