25 man squad 07:45 - Jun 15 with 4166 views | GlasgowBlue | My thoughts on how our 25 man squad could look by the start of the season. Goal Keepers Walton Hladky Right Backs Clarke Donacien Left Backs Davis Leigh Central Defenders Woolfenden Burges Edmundson* Cashin Central Midfield Morsy Luongo Taylor Ball Camara Wide Right Burns Rak-Sakyi Wide Left Broadhead Edwards No 10’s Chaplin Harness Aluko Forwards Ladapo Hirst Simms Penney - Release/ Sell Baggot - Loan Ndaba - Loan Harper - Release/ Sell Evans - Release/ Sell Humphreys- Loan El Miz - Loan/ Sell Jackson - Sell *I still think the club may have concerns over Edmundson’s injury record over the past two season which could see him sold as part of a deal to bring in another central defender. Possibly going back to Derby, so we’d be looking at bringing in two central defenders. Would everybody be happy if the above was our 25 for the season I’ve probably left someone out which will no doubt be corrected. [Post edited 15 Jun 2023 7:52]

25 man squad on 08:01 - Jun 15 with 3000 views | Westcountryblue | I'd be happy with the 2 strikers and Rak-Saki. I think we can do better than Taylor, who hasn't exactly been ripping it up in League One. Cashin, jury is still out for me. Might be better to get a grizzled, seasoned campaigner for our first season back in the Champ.

Re your last point. That’s whey I think Fridge may be moved on. Bring in a young promising defender like Cashin and a seasoned campaigner.

25 man squad on 08:07 - Jun 15 with 2966 views | xrayspecs | Broadly, yes. I am not sure that we will go with only 2 keepers. KM has spoken about the importance of the third keeper pushing the other two, which you would lose if only two were registered. I would expect an experienced CB rather than a youngster with potential, in the Sonny Bradley mould. I have not been overy impressed with Cashin when I have seen him this season. I agree about Edmundson's injury record, I also do not think he has looked comfortable alongside Wolfenden when he has played. I suspect that it is Hirst or Simms plus a more versatile TJJ type forward who can play across multiple advanced positions. Penney has been released. I suspect El Miz will be sold. You have missed out Piggot, who goes into the loan/sell bucket.
25 man squad on 08:08 - Jun 15 with 2962 views | Horsham | I think Cashin might be U21 so you may have one more space available. Maybe for a Keogh type at the back or one last dance for Celina.
25 man squad on 08:08 - Jun 15 with 2963 views | Yallop2 | I'm surprised at the Evans omission. Don't forget how good he was first part of the season. He's ahead of Ball and Camara for me

He is good, when fit. His injury record is really poor and he is at an age where you can only see that getting worse not better.

Cashin was an U21 last season but will count as a senior this coming season. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think TJJ will come in regardless of whether we sign both of those strikers. Very versatile player, who can also play as a 10.
25 man squad on 08:38 - Jun 15 with 2813 views | BondiBlue | I'd be fine with that but not delighted. Need better depth at wide left and 10. I'd make sure whoever we sign to compete with burns can also play (well) at 10 and on the left. That way, it's 4 into 3 from burns, chaplin, broadhead and the new guy, and we wouldn't have to rely on harness as first reserve. Instead of hirst and simms, i'd go with one of them plus someone who can play 9 or deeper (like TJJ). Not convinced by taylor personally but if the clubs thinks he's great then sure. In which case you’d probably need to lose one of the number 10’s, which makes Aluko’s contract offer a little illogical.

Surely we won't carry three number 9s who can't play in any other position.

I had a look yesterday at Evans injury record and it is shocking: 20/21 - 39 games missed 21/22 - 16 games missed 22/23 - 27 games missed 5 absences for knee injuries (8, 31, 13, 9 & 18 games) plus an illness which saw him miss 3 games.

25 man squad on 08:44 - Jun 15 with 2773 views | BlueBoots | Wouldn't be too unhappy if that's how our squad looked, but taking a few of your points: a) Happy with Edmundson as the 4th CB - think he suffered last season lining up alongside Woolfenden, as he wasn't fully fit, playing on the left, and they're a similar type of player. b) Would want someone with good experience at this level for the "3rd" CB; as someone else mentioned, Sonny Bradley would be my choice (being a leftie gives us balance there too) c) Centre Mids; Morsy and Luongo no questions, Ball for me is the best option we currently have if we need someone to sit in front of the defence (probably more necessary this season), plus he's an option as an emergency CB. I think Camara has missed too much football to automatically get a place in the squad - think he could do with a half season loan to get up to speed, as can't see him getting enough regular football with us to do that. El Miz has been playing a similar role to Morsy and Luongo at Orient (No.4 who breaks forward to join attacks), so I hope in pre-season we take a good look at how far he has developed. Again, I think we'll look to sign a player in this area with either Championship experience (or maybe even convincing someone to drop from the Prem), so the 5th spot would be a choice between El Miz and Evans. d) Would be very happy with Rak-Sakyi - like Edwards, can play as a No.10 as well as out wide if necessary. e) Agree that we need to sign 2 No.9's to join Ladapo; can't risk just one on the pitch and one on the bench for a whole season.

Not sure about TJJ, did ok at League One level but hardly set the world alight, I'd be very surprised to see us move for him. I also don't think Hirst is coming back.

Like Fridge, he’s missed two half seasons with injuries. Camara, if fit, can cover the number 10 position as well. I have high hopes for him this season.

25 man squad on 09:27 - Jun 15 with 2580 views | Guthrum | Decent setup. However, not sure Jackson will go. Think it likely we will hire one more central forward, supplemented with a young Prem loan (as with TJJ last season), thus Ladapo + Hirst or Simms + loan. Also, is Cashin good enough, a sufficient step up in quality? Tho I can see he is young and therefore ripe for development under McKenna.

I think people are going to be disappointed with Camara, I just see him going out on loan somewhere in an attempt to get fit for 6 months

25 man squad on 10:02 - Jun 15 with 2381 views | HighgateBlue | I'd have Evans over Camara if that were a straight choice. I'd be very pleased if we pulled off the signings you suggest. If our incoming business is that good, I think we have every right to be very optimistic about the coming season, and would surely be top half.
25 man squad on 10:11 - Jun 15 with 2335 views | marvellous | Andersen from Barnsley would be a good shout. He's got a decent amount of Championship experience, he's a leader on the pitch, named in L1 team of the season. Woolfie, Burgess, Andersen, and Fridge (provided his injury is now behind him) would be a really strong group of CDs. I'm not convinced by Taylor either. I think we'll be shopping higher up the pyramid for a noticeable step up in quality in CM. I can see Camara going out on loan and Humphreys staying as he's still U21 and won't take up a squad position. Which would then leave space for someone like Jackson to stay as we know that KM likes him. I'd be delighted if we got Rak-Sakyi, Hirst and Simms!
25 man squad on 10:11 - Jun 15 with 2332 views | Sharkey | My hunch (and that it's all it is) is that there will be one or two 'first team' departures. The club is pretty well off, but offers will come in.
