Cricket Day Four on 11:32 - Jul 1 with 2437 views | Steve_M | I can’t see how England even manage that without bowling Australia out quickly. Anything under 380 on a Lord’s pitch might be chaseable playing like England were before this series, 150 isn’t playing like this Test. Playing Anderson two Tests in a row after a few weeks injured is looking like a mistake too. Don’t think he’s quite finished but he’s well off where he was a year ago.

There was more to that first test defeat than cocking it right up. It was that breathing space to allow us to rest and rotate players without getting too far behind in the series.

Anderson will almost certainly be rested next test, I'm not convinced Robinson is 100% fit either There's doubts on Pope England certainly have a lot to consider, going into the next test

in what way though ? he's not leaking runs,, not bowling extras, hasnt taken many wickets, but not like the rest of the bowlers are excelling in that department. I think we fixate too often on a specific player, a bit like Town sometimes, and just unless theyre putting in man of the match performances assume theyre not any good anymore. he's said the Edgbaston pitch didnt suit him, the Lords pitch seems similarly stodgy. I wouldnt drop him, Id rest him for the next test purely because its back to back with this one.

He’s not happy though, just chuntering away to himself and not finding much rhythm. And then another drop from him. TBF they’re a lot of players well below par for England at the moment, I’m certainly not fixated on Anderson. And then Smith decides to copy England’s batting. 190/4 looks a bit better.

Bit of a mad five minutes there. Do or die now really. A clutter of 3 or 4 wickets is our only hope before lunch.

Yeah I can’t see an outcome where this is a draw. Our only hope is to bowl them out and chase something starting in a 3. We’ll still be 2nd favourites of course but at least it would give us an outside chance. We need Head out asap, should’ve had him already but if he settles in and scores north of 40 runs we almost certainly don’t have a chance. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Hadn’t realised Khawaja had done the same thing, choose to do something else when that over started. Whole feel of the match has changed a bit, that hush of anticipation around Lord’s.

And there he goes. Good to see that drop only cost 7 runs.

Too bl00dy right. And on the basis that we know they are largely going to refuse runs why not have a few catchers in place and bowl at the stumps?

There has been an amateurish show of intelligence in this test match by so many players. Almost aping test cricket.

An on song fast bowler is a joy to watch. Think Waqar, Wasim, Ambrose etc.
