Leipzig and Bremen descriptions of Town on 20:35 - Jul 16 with 3341 views | alial | Austria seems the pre-season to the pre-preseason. The end of the month is the important one. Great scheduling by McKenna IMO - he said he got what he wanted from the camp and so did the team. Austria was for assessing the current team and where we are IMO. Hurst has signed so he will be going fresh into these games and I imagine we will see some more signings in the next 12 days (given McKenna is announcing it) as well. I think we will get a pretty good picture of our best 11 for the season after these games. These games will be a tough test but I think with a couple of additions to the current team we could be very good: - RW to challenge Burns. (I really like him but I worry he might struggle in some games next season. Also hasn’t had anyone really challenge for his place and I think at times he has not been consistent). - Another Striker to push Hirst. He played well for us last year and his goals helped us massively with promotion. He fits our style of play brilliantly and I’m sure he will have a great career but he hasn’t scored many goals at this level before. So there is part of me concerned about relying on a 24 year old next year if he goes througha dry spot. I’m not sure Ladapo is the answer. - A new CB - ideally a young player from a Premiership club with Championship experience. I’m interested to see Edmundson play at this level though. When fit and on his day, he is a much better player than Burgess. Walton Clarke (+ some more experience here IMO but think Clare will thrive at this level). Woolfy NewCB / Edmonson over Burgess purely becauseI think Edmuson is another who will thrive at this level. I think it will suit him better. I worry about Burgess being caught flat footed by some much better players than League One strikers. Davis / Leigh Morsey Taylor Burns / New RW Chaplin (A loan here as well) Broadhead (I really feel Edwards will thrive in this League and he will feature but not necessarily over Broadhead) Hirst (Loan and Lapdapo) Really excited for this season and think we will surprise a few. Our style of play will be much better on Championship standard pitches than League One pitches and Mckenna is only going to get better as time goes on and he increases his experience. COYB. More importantly, why is everyone so convinced about Edmundson, who was a walking mistake (far more so than Toto ever was) and has never performed with the solidity or consistency that Burgess did last year?

Quite similar to last season's pre season, where we played Millwall, West Ham and Arsenal(behind closed doors).. Playing higher ranked sides, pre season got us off to a flyer in L1... Hopefully have a similar effect this time round, too.

Far more so than Toto? What planet are you on.

You could have said that Edmundson was more error prone than Burgess and you may have had a point, but bringing in Toto is straight up delusional.

Edmundson made a mistake against ... Plymouth away wasn't it? When else?

Give your head a wobble you melt. Comparing Toto with Edmundson? That’s a ridiculous call. Fridge was the first name on the team sheet before his injury at the end of 21/22 and was a catastrophic disaster when his injury was revealed. Why spout this nonsense?

The Bundesliga clubs, as far as I'm aware, tend to hire native-speakers for their English-language services these days. I know that the chap for Union Berlin is a British ex-pat, and I seem to recall he's a Town fan as well.

He made a couple in the same game of the EFL trophy as well, was it Portsmouth maybe? Too slow in getting the ball to LB and got cut out. I feel that Edmundson is seen as a preferred option to Burgess because hes a nice guy and helps in the community a lot (which is great). That is a real dis service to Cam as he was excellent when he came in and we looked extremely solid with him in there. He deserves a shot a Championship football alongside Wolf. Another thing (whilst I am just going on) is the speed people are just removing Mass from the team instead of Taylor. Mass was the standout player from January onwards and transformed our season. Him and Morsy were immense together and this formed the base to allow Chaplin and Broadhead flourish like they did. Mass deserves to be starting for us.

Edmundson was excellent for us on 21/22, so think that is why he is seen by some as preferred option.....personally though for me Burgess moved a long way ahead of him and Edmundson will need a stroke of misfortune from others to get a place at some point and will have to be quite exceptional to take it. I think we are looking at changing the way our midfield 2 balances next season - and that it will be a sitter alongside a box to box guy with Davis sitting in CM when we have the ball, heard we've enquired about Ben Wiles who would be good to compete with Taylor for that

I think the comments here make the point for me. Edmundson, a favourite, made several ricks a game before Burgess came in last season. But that is not people's recollection.
