.. for outraging public decency following yesterday's match against Sunderland.

They were allegedly mocking Bradley Lowery. You may remember that Bradley was the smiling 6 year old Sunderland supporter who captured the hearts of supporters up and down the country before dying of neuroblastoma six years ago.

Yep. They were throwing stuff on the pitch again against Boro too.
But also, turns out not all Wednesday fans are bad.

I would expect both of them to be receiving lengthy bans from attending SWFC games - along with some kind of punishment

I don't see how they can make the charges stick, unless they have other compelling evidence. What we've all seen is two men showing a picture of young Bradley, whilst smiling. Going to be hard to prove that that shows that they were mocking him.

They have some utter bellends don’t they. (Yes, all clubs do, etc., but they pop up more than most).

I don't in any way condone what these idiots (allegedly) did, but getting arrested and charged for acting like tvvats is a bit extreme.
Did they really break a law? Outraging common decency? It's a bit subjective isn't it?

I expect everyone will now accuse me of being just as bad as them, and a disgrace etc.

But that seems to be how it works these days. If you don't jump on the lynching bandwagon, you're lynched yourself.

I somewhat get what you’re saying and just read the bloke has lost his job. And may face prison. Which does seem excessive. But then again if it was my kid he was mocking I’d think very differently. It is probably some drunken banter that got out of hand - he claims the Sunderland fans were showing pics of Sheff Utd badges - but fooking hell. How does one’s mind go to “dead cancer child associated with the club we’re playing against”

The photo’s were circulated for all to see, including the judge.

The offence wasn’t ‘outraging common decency’ either. He was charged under section 4a of the Public Order Act 1986, and if you look that up, you’ll see that he clearly broke the law (and has since admitted it in court).

He’s apparently disgusted with himself now, in contrast to messages allegedly attributed to
him when he was challenged about it after the game.

How on earth did he think for one second, that it was in line with 'friendly banter'? Crazy the thought processes, or lack of them, some people have.

I can recall an incident at Portman Road that happened way before social media and camera phones were a thing and that involved a group of nutjobs directing sick chants towards Bryan Gunn after he lost his daughter to leukaemia. The rest of the North Stand forgot the rivalry for a few minutes to set them feckers straight.
