Trying as we go forwards but that goal... 15:14 - Oct 28 with 3587 viewsFrimleyBlue

Don't need to be a manager to know whitt was gonna go inside. Its why George has been picked to stop it happening and he and Davis invite him inside to shoot wtf.

You can't always prevent. That was a class finish, unfortunately.

We'll still win.

Williams showing how to defend properly there.

They were both trying to show him outside?

Whittaker just did really well.

We don’t look our normal organised selves in defence today.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

I'm certainly feeling more nervous when they go forward than excited when we do.

They seem to be getting every second bounce and ricochet in their box

I'll have to watch it again but on the replay Fridge looked like he was ushering him down the wing (in my recollection)

Will watch later and see.

Think davis goes to cover off whit if he goes outside but George doesn't cover that by making sure he's covering the inverted run... so both end up in the wrong place.
George has been done which Is annoying as that's what he came in for as Burgess last season struggled with the inverted runs of whitt

At the ground, seemed like Edmundson did not do enough to show him the outside. But only saw it live.

Morning SB.

Just seen this still image and it helps with this one.

Edmundsons body positioning was openly inviting whitt inside. Absolutely crazy.

You'll see what I meant on my my reply too about davis beginning to go to cover the outside as long as ed covers off the invert. But both get done.

All done with now of course and don't matter now. But frustrating at the time.

Such a pity Whittaker didn’t want to come to us , because he’s a very good, pacy player. Take him out of that Plymouth side, and they really would struggle for goals in my opinion.

As much as you might like to show players down one side.

Robben used to do the same.thing over and over again. Players knew what he was going to do and still couldn't stop it.

Not saying whittaker is like robben but you get the point. You just have to except.it was a good.goal.

Whilst true. It was his first attempt and George was selected to stop that from happening. It was poor.
The finish was class but we didn't manage it.

There's a great clip online showing another attempt but this Time it was v williams. Morsy was the covering player but he stayed in line with whitt rather than moving to cover outside and williams positioned himself to be able to counter which ever decision whitt made.

I don't know how helpful it is to always seek to apportion blame for opponents goals, especially those like Whittaker's.
The game is played at 100mph these days.
Their break was rapid and it was a superb goal, which as fans of the game we should be able to applaud and appreciate.
Having watched it back, the technique was perfect.
Had we have scored it, I doubt we'd have been examining the position of the centre and left back.
Sometimes you just get undone by quality.
Of more interest to me is how we managed to keep Whittaker relatively contained for much of the rest of the game.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

I was quite close to it and putting it simply, it was a brilliant goal. End of. Pretty much unstoppable, whether it’s ITFC, Leicester or a top PL defence. When I saw it back on the highlights I saw nothing to change my mind.

Thinking back to the games at home this season, I know the defence record looks a bit meh, but we’ve been hit by some stonking goals. Good thing we’ve scored plenty of our own!!

KM mentions himself it's a worldie goal but there were things individually we could have done better that may have stopped it from happening.

I like to discuss all things town related. And no I wouldn't discuss an opponents defence as they're of no interest to me.
