I think some people were expecting us to play a more competitive side, having said that, Fulhams team is not full strength either and we have been very poor all night in general, you'd expect better from a few of them but it was just a disjointed set up from the start, it's a shame we wont make the quarter finals, it would have been nice, but oh well.

Against a full strength Fulham I'd agree, but they made nine changes themselves.

But we didn't play our normal 11 v wolves. So not sure why people expected our league side to play this one.

Maybe not but some people will think those were earlier rounds so expected but with a quarter final up for grabs surely we'll not play a weaker side.... Personally I would have made changes but maybe not as many as we have done, we didn't look competitive all night. The manager can take some blame for that, but the players can to, there are players on there who should be able to do a job against a second string Fulham side in a cup game, and they haven't looked in it at all showing why they won't be playing in the league anytime soon! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Haven’t played that bad tbh, bit of suspect defending for the goals, couple of good performances (Tuanebe and Baggott)

He knows we’ve got our hands full winning the league and the FA Cup and doesn’t want to get too greedy.

I wanted a treble though! Can the U23's still qualify for the EFL Trophy?

Take the positives, Baggott looked assured, 90 mins for Axel. Some mins in a few others who really didn’t stake a claim for the weekend. The team Saturday now picks itself tbh.

One or two will be donning the waterproof pyjama bottoms tonight, I’m sure. But it is what it is. The League Cup served its purpose for us and it’s not as if we were going much further and another game after tonight was not what we needed. Hopefully KM will have learned something about the players tonight in addition to them getting game time.

Difference between tonight and wolves apart from Fulham being good at keep ball was Hutchinson not playing - only pace was Jackson so Fulham were pretty comfortable pressing deep and not worrying about us breaking - harness, aluko and Ladapo not quick enough to worry any one / Ladapo a passenger, aluko was good and will be ok for playing the morsey role when he is suspended. Harness didn’t look up to it - slowed play up, took to long processing what to do and control not great. Baggott good when came on, humphries good and when hirst and Hutchinson came on it changed the game .

Hirst and Hutchinson came on at exactly the same time as Muniz, Wilson and Pereira went off. Things got easier.
