I have to disagree. They really were not bland in their prime up to 1977 when their albums varied enormously. The band died when the drummer Coghlan left in about 1980 and by then I’d agree their stuff really was getting bland.
As a live band, they were about as good as it got. Listen to Status Quo Live 1976 (double album) and you’ll understand what I mean.

I’m amazed dear old Buster Bloodvessel is still with us. 65 and still performing according to the interweb.
Saw him a few years ago, cannot remember where but he'd shed a lot of weight then. I thought Lip Up Fatty and Special Brew were great little pop songs at the time.
