Personal terms agreed before fee? 13:27 - Jun 18 with 3635 views | ipswichtillidie | On Phil’s news story, surely the club needs to agree a fee before the player can discuss terms or are things done differently in Greece. Agent or club definitely pushing for more either way. The Greek journo has been touting him around since April. West Ham, Fulham, Sporting, Us, Bologna. Probably missed a few!!

Like Town making their offer for him ... we must've had some indication - probably via his agent - that he'd be willing to join us, otherwise we'd just be wasting our time making offers.

I’m fully aware figures would get discussed but it’s being reported it’s all agreed. Seems an odd way to report things. I’m not naive. Ty

Yes it was more around the reporting of it. You naturally would assume that personal terms are done in the background as clubs close in on a fee. But this seems to have been pushed out by someone to gee up others in the race imo. Not often for example we have a news story about a player that we are looking at stating terms have been agreed but the asking club wants XYZ.

Definitely seems to be designed to put the willies up the other suitors. "We've agreed terms with Bologna, so unless you get an acceptable offer in before they do, you won't stand a chance."

I looked up Bologna’s annual salary bill (2023)to make a financial comparison. Few sites have it at around £26 million per annum. If you put them in a salary table last season with the premiership teams only Luton (24m) would be below them. Obviously they now are playing champions league football but shows where we are at in terms of financials in this division compared to other leagues. Crystal Palace £69,050,000 13 Fulham £64,610,000 14 Brighton £62,400,000 15 Wolves £53,820,000 16 Bournemouth £53,794,000 17 Brentford £39,936,000 18 Burnley £38,506,000 19 Sheffield United £28,756,000 20 Luton Town £24,570,000 [Post edited 18 Jun 2024 13:58]

He would not first at Bologna unless they sell Zirkzee.

Zirkzee is almost certainly off this summer. Maybe to the PL even.

The correlation between wage bill for a club and position in the league is much more accurate than net transfer expenditure of the club. It's being able to pay inflated wages that gets the player and the Premiership is generally in the strongest position just below the real elite players, which we won't get anyway.

19.2 m pounds including Williams at 65000 a week and Lee Evans and Dane Scarlett but excluding Keifer Travis and Sarmiento and Al Hamadi. but the bonuses will show in this years figures so maybe 28m to 40m with the leavers plus whatever signings/loans we make
