Thanks for the recommendations fellow marmalade lovers! I'll look out for these and give them a try. Wilkins / Tiptree do loads of different varieties and I haven't tried them all, but I really like their 'Old Times Orange' marmalade.

Friend of mine runs their production facility at Tiptree. I can have as much of that as I like from the seconds/slightly out of date category for nothing. Their ketchup is good too.
I was in Southwold with him recently, we popped into the Tiptree tea room there for a bit of mystery shopper activity. He thought it was OK but I didn't see the point of having their preserves advent calendar on sale in June.
They're quite an old school company in many ways, some of how they still operate is laudable in this day and age. Other elements quite bonkers and possibly not sustainable long term.

I'm not a marmalade fan myself but Mrs B loves the tiptree stuff you often get in the small jars at hotels.
As part of informal market research for my friend who works there, how much does she appreciate the whimsical little messages printed on the inside of the jar lid?

Old Times has been my go to marmalade for a long time, and is what they put in the little jars at decent B&Bs . But now having tried the Blood Orange I have a new go-to. It's somewhere between medium and thick cut, and slightly more bitter than the Old Times.

"Old Times " used to be my favourite
Alas, the harsh winds of economic downturn have made it impossible for me to justify the cost of this fine preserve
So now I make my own
Wallpaper paste, some shredded carrot for texture, a dash of economy orange squash for colour and a mix of sweetex and vinegar to get the correct sweet/ tangy balance
I call it " Hard Times "

I had no idea about these! Will have to ask if she's aware.
Have you tried making your own? I’d never considered it until I inherited some assorted citrus trees in my new location. You dont need many to much fruit to make a few tasty jars

Sort of. I make 6 and a bit jars of marmalade from a tin of Robertson's Ma Made. I've done this for years and earlier this week I had the first unsuccessful attempt to do so. I realised that forgetting to add three quarters of a pint of water probably didn't help!!
Stupid boy.

Hence why they posted £1.8 million loss this last year.
Fwiw I love most of their jams, love their old school style, I've never got on with their blood orange marmalade though

Mrs CB makes a very fine marmalade but we do have the advantage of having a daughter living in Seville where oranges grow from trees in the street and a huge bag of oranges costs pennies. We stock up on visits. I love the stuff
