Anyone going to Latitude? on 11:10 - Jul 25 with 2750 views | BanksterDebtSlave | It looks like peak latitude has been reached. Weekend tickets still available and a few on a local Facebook group still unsold at £100 each.

Anyone going to Latitude? on 11:14 - Jul 25 with 2729 views | JakeITFC | I have never been (and so my opinion isn't worth much I realise), but the lineup always looks to me like one days worth of good music spread over a whole weekend and I don't think it is unfair to say that this year I think it would be a struggle to even call it one day's worth. That being said, I would recommend going to see Esme Emerson on the BBC introducing stage who are both local and brilliant.

Deffo on the list. Really looking forward to Kasabian and especially Reverend and the Makers. I saw Duran Duran with the original line up around 20 years ago. It was a great gig, so they should be good. Annoyingly they clash with English Teacher though. Frank Turner will be good. He's doing some stuff with 3/4 of the Pistols next month. Others I'm looking at include The Vaccines, Pip Blom, Khuranbin, Dead letter, Seadick Steve, CMAT, Mary Wallopers, Darkness, Rag n bone man, Ash, Chic and whisper it quietly, Rick Astley should be a blast. Hopefully bag some comedy too, but the entrance design makes getting into the tent a bit of a sod. We're going with friends, so will enjoy it whatever.

Anyone going to Latitude? on 13:25 - Jul 25 with 2287 views | docklandsblue | The headliners aren't great, but you've got The Mystery Jets and Waeve tonight (Graham Coxon if you are asking), the best live band around currently: Fat Dog (twice), Deadletter and a now ick free Kasabian, Antony Szmierek for all your streets needs, Mary in the Junkyard, if you want to get on the hype bus, The Mary Wallopers, John Cooper Clarke and Orbital, Big Special and American buzz band Been Stellar, Stewart Lee, Robin Incee, The Horne Section, Ash Picture Parlour and Nile Rodgers, plus three mercury prize nominees... Corinne Bailey Rae, Cmat and the brilliant English Teacher. Truck looks much better on paper this weekend but is actually clash city. So delighted I plumped for Latitude instead.

To enjoy any festival you have to be open minded as to who you want to see, I have been to a festival and not seen any of the bands I pencilled in to see as others caught my attention by being very good so I stayed and watched them instead, that is the magic of a festival, seeing bands you did not know you liked.
Anyone going to Latitude? on 14:56 - Jul 25 with 2080 views | ElephantintheRoom | I’d rather rub dog poo in my hair to be honest. The swedes who were staying here the last two weeks are returning to the land of the Vikings via the Cambridge folk festival. They seemed to think Robert Plant was going to make an appearance. Not sure if he’s stooping that low nowadays, but probably worth the effort if you live nearby

Yet again, thanks for your pointless contribution to the board.

Honestly, latitude used to be amazing, with a line up loaded with music that I love. But it has very much repositioned itself as the festival for middle class parents and their teenage offspring. That's fine if you fit that demographic, but it ain't me. The main stage line up is a shocker, a few acts aside. There is some great stuff in there, but as you say it feels spread increasingly thinly. My tip for those attending is to catch Waxahatchee, Big Special and Lankum. [Post edited 25 Jul 2024 15:36]

Anyone going to Latitude? on 15:40 - Jul 25 with 1906 views | DBaldy | Reverend & the Makers are very good live, although I'm not a fan of their most recent stuff. John McClure is a good frontman & will get the crowd bouncing.

Lankum are a cracking band. Their evolution from being basically an Irish version of Stick In The Wheel to something much more innovative and weird has been fascinating to watch.

Anyone going to Latitude? on 16:25 - Jul 25 with 1793 views | chrice | First time in about 10 years I'm not going. I'm sad not to be there but more sad about how poor the lineup is when it used to be so good. Hopefully the poor ticket sales this year will make them rethink their strategy next year. Looking at the set times I would have been very angry that Orbital, London Grammar and BEAK> all clash when they were three of about the five things I would want to watch. Also, they have made the mistake of putting Orbital on the second stage, which might ruin London Grammar's quiet songs as Fatboy Slim ruined Fleet Foxes a while back. Definitely a +1 for seeing English Teacher as someone mentioned above.
Anyone going to Latitude? on 16:34 - Jul 25 with 1760 views | _clive_baker_ | Music and comedy are very much down to personal preference innit. My first 'serious' girlfriend went to university in Nottingham, she was good friends and housemates with an up and coming band back then by the name London Grammar. We went to loads of their gigs as they 'blew up' and got given tickets to loads of festivals, it was great! Despite our relationship subsequently blowing up I've always followed LG closely and without bias do think they're proper, talented musicians and a good live act. I'm not at Latitude (I'm going on holiday tomorrow woohoo), but that's where I would be on Saturday night if I was.
Anyone going to Latitude? on 18:15 - Jul 25 with 1641 views | positivity | don't miss english teacher; i'd be keen to see jockstrap too if they don't clash, one issue with latitude is the distance between the main 2 stages and the smaller ones. missed enlish teacher for that very reason last year... i'd definitely go and see been stellar, noisy new york band, bc camplight and corinne bailey rae, whose latest album was fabulous ash and orbital are always great and then you've got sam campbell and loads more in the comedy tent. enjoy, wish i was there!
