Liverpool line-ups in last two friendlies 14:29 - Aug 4 with 3113 views | unstableblue | Liverpool beat Man U 3-0 in South Carolina yesterday, the following line-up: Liverpool: Kelleher (Jaros, 46), Konate (Van den Berg, 46), Salah (Blair, 65), Jones (Nyoni, 59), Elliott (Morton, 65), Jota (Bajcetic, 65), Tsimikas (Chambers, 65), Carvalho (Doak, 65), Gravenberch (Endo, 65), Quansah (Phillips, 65), Bradley (Stephenson, 73). Carvalho’s return from his Hull loan is going well with another against United, following up the goal he scored in the 2-1 win over Arsenal, this in Philadelphia. The team that day was a follows: Liverpool: Kelleher, Szoboszlai (Blair, 71), Salah (Doak, 71), Jones (Endo, 46), Elliott (Morton, 71), Jota (Nyoni, 46), Tsimikas (Beck, 71), Carvalho (Bajcetic, 71), Van den Berg (Phillips, 71), Quansah (Nallo, 71), Bradley (Stephenson, 46). A lot of consistency from Arne Slot, in a promising start to his Anfield tenure. Mac Allister is recovering from Copa America efforts and will join up soon. Unsure on Trent’s and other Euros participants, such as Robinson, Van Dyke. Extra time off - maybe a good thing for us? Assume they’ll be in Kirkby come Monday morning. And as I’ve mentioned a few times, still no inbound transfers, perhaps their Dutch leader will add some big money deals now he understands the squad. Or he’s going for minimal change and exploiting what was already a Rick squad. Salah certainly looks to be staying. Are we ready for Salah, Jota, Slzobazais et al.

Just going to enjoy it for what it is. It's been a long time coming - I'm not going to lose any sleep over the result of our first game back.

Agree. I want us to win but if we're 3-0 down at HT i'm just going to enjoy being back where we belong. Liverpool and City are not going to shape our season.

Indeed it might give our direct rivals a false sense of complacency, should we do badly in those games. While it's annoying, having people carelessly write us off may tip the balance in the face of our staff and squad's meticulous preparation.

Agree it’s going to be a wonderful occasion to savour, and I’m ready to see an opposition of the quality I reference standing on the Portman Road pitch, ready for the whistle. A long journey for Town to get to that point. I remember that mega Man U Ferguson team at kick-off on a Tuesday night many moons ago, really felt like we’d arrived. Agree it’s a free-hit, agree the result is immaterial, agree we should savour being back amongst the big boys (and they don’t get much bigger than Liverpool)… but I would like to see a performance from the Town team and the Town fans. We’re not here to make up the numbers and be the whipping boys. And I’m quietly confident will come out of the game with our heads held high. [Post edited 4 Aug 2024 15:02]

This. Some people are panicking unnecessarily. If there was ever a season just to sit back and enjoy the ride, whatever happens, this is it.

Absolutely this, no matter what happens we'll be in a better position that at any time over the last 20 years. Also worth rememberibg that aside from SBR's reign we've never lasted too long in the top division. 3 years, 3 years and 2 years by my reckoning....so we've not exactly been regulars. So back the manager, support the players and enjoy it.

That’s the Ipswich Town fan’s motto for the 24/25 season right there!

McKenna won't think any game is a free hit. If beaten, it won't matter as such, but the individual and team performance will.

I would worry more about Aldridge but at least Grobelaar should give us a chance.
