Edmundson was definitely brought in on occasion last year for his pace? Hull at home, Cov away for example Wider point is that we clearly have a squad to allow for this type of rotation - ie picking a starting team for a particular game.

Think Edmundson came in for Woolfenden for two games, which isn't a lot when it comes to rotation.

Yes he did but think Woofie was still on the bench yesterday he was not ! Just seemed a little odd but maybe nothing in it .

Think we'll see O'Shea become the regular right-sided centre-half from here.

No need for a centre back on the bench though as Johnson was on there, and Tuanzebe can play centre, with Phillips and option too.

Yes. I think McKenna’s comments about him yesterday were about as honest and believable as Arteta’s on Ramsdale after he replaced him with Raya.

Woolfie on 01:10 - Sep 16 with 4810 views | Bugs | Greaves is without doubt a better defender than Burgess (please don't take this as Burgess knocking, he is and always will be an ITFC legend after the last two seasons). But so far I don't see that gap of class between Woolfie and O'Shea. I think that right-hand CB spot is up for grabs. It really wouldn't surprise me if come April /May, Woolfie has made that position his.

I think it’s too early to judge O’Shea, but what he has over Woolfenden is Premier League experience.

That’s because we have a ready made centre half replacement on the pitchin Tuanzebe. So no need for one on the bench when we can have more attacking options.

Woolfie on 08:00 - Sep 16 with 4447 views | franz_tyson | I trust Kieran. If he thinks O'Shea is an upgrade on Woolf, then O'Shea gets the shirt. If Woolf is as good as so many thinks then he'll push O'Shea and O'Shea will have to maintain high standards to keep Woolf out. Just means the side benefits UNLESS both become crap ( which is unlikely). Sorry, bit harsh on Woolf, but it's been harsh on Burgess, Mass, Chappers... and probably more harshness to come for other old favourites too. Woolf has to fight for his place and he's got more chance of regaining it than Burgess has from Greaves. Not sure about centre back rotation. I think O'Shea is a regular alongside Greaves now.

It makes sense. He's fast. Wins headers, can ping a diag for fun and an astute defender. Wolfy will be used as will other members of the squad but oshea was bought for a reason.

What did Kieran say :- "We wanted to get Dara going today. It’s really hard to integrate when you arrive late as a defender until you get in the team and really feel your teammates and feel the competitiveness of a game and show your qualities. It was important to get him going." After O'Shea being away with Ireland and Woolf playing well last game, if there was any indecision you would have thought it was a no-brainer that Woolf keeps the shirt for the Brighton game....at least. Big decision by Kieran and think this just showed that O'Shea is clearly his first choice RCB.

Woolfie on 10:16 - Sep 16 with 3976 views | LittleBoyBlue1 | This has to be a case of pressure to fit in a high money signing. I won't accept the premier league experience angle - unless it's experience in how to be relegated we're looking for. It was clear at Brighton that he hadn't quite grapsed McKenna ball either. Lumping it long (and inaccurately) after his teamates had strung some passes together and he'd ended up with the ball. big decision for McKenna, Woolf currently better but O'Shea won't have signed a 5 year deal if he was told he'd be a bench defender which is one of the few positions you don't change mid-game unless neccesary.

I thought, on the ball, a lack of Woolfenden really showed on Saturday. And it put pressure on the rest in the process. But it makes sense to try and bed O'Shea in as long term first choice RCB in a game where we were thinking any point would be a plus, rather than a 'must win'.

The issue for KM re O'Shea is he needs to get him up to speed with how we play and within the defensive unit. He didn't have a preseason with us and was away during the international break. Which always meant KM was going to need to play him if he wants to get him familiar with how we play. I don't think KM will ultimately play which players cost the most, but those that are playing the best. If O'Shea isn't performing at the level KM wants he will play Woolf. If he does select purely on who cost the most then we will be relegated. Although given Tuanzebe's performance both could easily find themselves on the bench if one of the other RBs setups up as Tuanzebe proved on Sat he has the pace, physical strength, and footballing brain to operate easily in the Prem and could find himself at CH.

What a load of waffle. Think McKenna has justified his selection by securing a clean sheet away at what could well be a top 8 team this year.
