Appreciate he did lose stamina which you'd expect from such little time in training this week
But what a performance from him yesterday.
Seen it mentioned that Phillips had a solid game which ye did indeed and I felt Cajuste was superb.
A fully fit Cajuste I belive follows the runner in their first goal so I can't blame him to much as he had run everywhere upto that point and naturally you're gonna have times you switch off when trying to catch your breath
Have seen some mentioning Morsy coming straight back I'm when fit... I dunno. IF Phillips and Cajuste manage the midfield as well as they did up until fitness showed then it should be difficult for him to get back in.

Yeah it was quite evident he is imo. That's not a slight on morsy end of the day we've done so much with Morsy bit we signed cajuse as a full international and years ahead of him. Reminded me of what we hoped we signed many years ago with Harper but on a much higher level. | |

Yes he did well aside from the second goal and the dodgy back pass in the second half, but as you say fitness / match sharpness probably accounts for them.
He did seem to be grimacing as he walked off the pitch though, just hope that knee holds up so we can get to see him when fully up to speed.
Phillips and Cajuste would be our best pairing if both fully fit. Phillips was good for the most part yesterday also. |  | | |

Bit early to say yet, but I think it might be Phillips or morsy with cajuste once fully fit. On the admittedly fairly scant evidence so far, it looks like he offers something different from them both. A bit like mass did/does.It’s all about getting the combo/balance right in there rather than necessarily playing the best two players. The outside of the boot pass to Hirst in the second half was pretty sublime. |  | | |

He just glides doesn't he. Not fully fit and seemed to aggravate the injury when he mis-hit one into touch, but carried on. Shame we couldn't get more players from outside the UK market. [Post edited 27 Oct 2024 12:28]

I was impressed, he looked more suited to being alongside Phillips also
Hopefully he grows into the season with us, he's a bit more physically commanding and has that composure we have lacked at times [Post edited 27 Oct 2024 12:35]

Was nowhere near fit as well, McKenna said there's no way he would have played unless there was an injury crisis and they thought they might get 45 minutes out of him and that he played through significant pain for the whole time he was on the pitch. | |

Yes, thought he did exceptionally well given his layoff, and that Phillips was good too.
It saddens me (and is keeping me off here a bit, though that may not sadden others!) that a number of people have been so quick to dig out Phillips, and there was a lot of pre-programmed tripe from really ignorant posters mid-game on the chat yesterday about him.
The only criticism is that I'd have liked to see one or both of them sat a little deeper protecting the CBs just before half time yesterday (for obvious reasons), but of course they're playing the way KMc wants them to play there so it's a dynamic tactical thing rather than any criticism of either of them.
I suspect in a month's time all three of them (with Morsy) will be operating consistently at a high level, and that Taylor may well be in that mix too, albeit as a slightly different type. |  |

I don't see Morsy coming straight back in.
I think he still has an important role as club captain, but he's not a certain starter.
Cajuste and Phillips are younger and far more experienced at this kind of level.
That's not a slight on Morsy, he can't help that he's 33 and never played at this level before. |  |
