What was the Burgess header disallowed for - I can't see anything?
For the winner No one went with Billings for him to cross
Davis the culprit here?

I thought it was harsh tbh, just a complete mismatch in physicality and what's annoying is having watched the replay the defender doesn't even protest about it.

I think it was Delap on the keeper, he was the one who seemed to be in conversation with the ref mostly directly afterwards.

Another highly questionable decision. Would have been a different match.

VAR disallowed it for Delap blocking off the keeper, which seemed to be a different offence to the one the referee initially pointed out. Think both were decisions which could have gone either way.

Yes, on the screen in the screen in the stadium it confirmed VAR had reviewed and a foul by Delap had been upheld (as the ref disallowed it).

I think we wouldve complained if it happened to our keeper.

Ahh I didn't notice that. A shame, and another potentially match defining decision a la Leicester at home.

Hey ho.

I first thought it might have been that Burgess had his hands on the defenders shoulders and was pushing him down and using him as leverage for the header. But then I heard somewhere that it was for an infringement on the keeper by Delap but I couldn't see anything in that.

If that's the case half of Arsenal's goals this season should have been disallowed.

Having watched it again, it could have also been on Chaplin impeding the defender from jumping, but the VAR decided to go with Delap. Both quite fine margin calls I think.

Billings picked up the ball and ran from the middle of the park to the flank overlap, could have been covered by Mursy/Cajuste but both were out of position (on the right side of midfield) so the overlap run should have been picked up by the wide left player CLarke, but he was out of position up front.

Burgess and Davis went to the ball, and O'Shea only then reacted to the run from Billings, which meant that 3/4 of the defence were taken out.

This was not the "fault" of any of the defence or midfield, but created by excellent movement by a Bournemouth side who scented blood and the 3 points.

It seemed to me it was Chappers impeding the defender in front of Burgess, who may have got a head to it. A harsh decision if you're a Town fan, but didn't feel totally ridiculous and a clear ref fook up. But what do I know eh.

Not sure on that... in real time I saw that goal coming as soon as Morsy went to go and press out on the right, we were so horribly exposed down our left, 1 decent pass and they're in. Think Morsy knew it based on his reaction too.

VAR gave the foul against Delap.

Was that on the goalie?

I guess I'm saying it didn't feel too harsh a decision to rule the goal out, at the time. More 'meh' than, say, 'FFSYFC'.

The offence against Delap was softer compared to one or two other things that happened at the same time.

Although VAR wouldn't be able to disallow it for a different offence to the referee without him being sent to the screen unless there was some miscommunication.

Muric got shoved/kneed in the back ref didn't even award a free kick.

He got taken out first half and the ref moaned at him for theatrically diving.

Compared to some of the rugby/American football style of shenanigans we've seen in our area this season there's little consistency from refs about it

I think the analysis from Troy Deeney and Ashley Williams was good. Worth watching on the BBC Iplayer.

Don't necessarily have to agree with it, but with only 4 games for them to show, we did get some attention. We've lost 15 points from winning positions, the most in the league, and to some extent, they were saying we need to park the bus as soon as we go ahead. Which won't happen, as we know we have to keep carrying a threat to keep the PL quality players away from our defence.

Aside from ITFC, the comments about Cucurella? (Chelsea no. 3) slipping over and costing two goals were good. The one who got Southampton a red card for pulling his hair. This time, he throws his boots away and changes into a different pair.

The Ref had disallowed it for a foul and VAR reviewed it and backed the ref (again!) If the Ref had not disallowed it, VAR was unlikely to have overturned that IMHO. Thought ref was pretty poor again.
