At the half way point in the season 22:32 - Dec 30 with 1742 viewsVic

We have 15 pts. We only have to do a little better in the second half and we’ll surely survive.

I think I would have taken the scenario of being one point off 'safety' halfway through the season and just before a much needed window opens. It's all context obviously and there are some big under-performers in the division but I still think we are 5 or 6 points short of where should be. Leicester, Brentford and Bournemouth games I'm especially looking at you.

5 more wins would see us to 30. Throw in a few draws and we'll give ourselves a chance, a 6th win would be very helpful. That's the nature of a relegation fight (in a good way), we can lose games and its not terminal. Win 1 in 3 and we'll have more than a chance.

Home games against Wolves and Southampton to come. Away to Leicester. All winnable.

Last 4 are Everton away, Brentford home, Leicester away, West Ham home. A couple could be on the beach already, or they might be big 6 pointers. Hard to know, but on recent evidence I wouldn't rule us out in those.

We've got 15 games before that, if we can win 1 in 3 we would be on 30 points even if we lost the other 10. We'll certainly go to Fulham with a lot of confidence after tonight.

Its possible. COYB.

We have 2 more points than Forrest did at this point last year, and we share the same position as them too! We also have the same amount of points Luton had though!

The key for me is that with bad luck, injuries and poor decisions we could easily have had another 5, 6, 7 points based on performances.

Not impossible for us to get the same points plus those in the second half of the season.

We've competed in every game bar West Ham and Newcastle.

We've taken 7 pts from the big 6 - Liverpool, Man City, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs.

So we've taken only 8 pts from the non big 6, and that is where we need to sort things out 2nd half of the season.

Do that and we will be fine.

What a lovely end to 2024.

I have been saying 17th is the target this season and I think we will just about do it by beating the spammers on the last home game of the season.

Yep, that's a good point. How do we find a way to be more effective against the likes of Everton, West Ham (although we were fine for 35 minutes until we switched off there), Palace etc. We'll need some points from those games too.

Confidence and belief is massive and getting that home win out of the way should help a lot, especially if we have a narrow lead going into the last few minutes again.

Feel like that little bit of craft is lacking against the less good teams. Or we need to change up our mentality against them perhaps. Gotta say I’m getting a bit carried away by the We Can Do This vibes on here today and I’m loving it. I got the 6 points I wanted from December.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
