It's such a strange save that it's quite hard to judge it. It might be a bit flukey or weird or it might be one of the greatest saves of all time.

I have to disagree.
Seeing it in person from the angle I did, I thought at the time it was astonishing because the ball was behind him, and he somehow managed to claw the ball over the net in a way I have never seen a goalkeeper do before.
Seeing it on video only confirms my view.
But it was probably too unorthodox to feature in a save of the month competition. |  | | |

It looked like a fairly simple save to his left, but the unorthodox way he threw his arm at it made it look a bit more 'spectacular'.

What made him do that (and makes it a very good save) is that he had gone down expecting the shot instead of the pull back and he is only just getting up again to make the save. |  |

Yep, personally the saves on the shortlist have more technique than Palmers (which was still a great reaction stop).
AP's was a top save, but at this level there are many of those.
